Well I would only think it would be fair to post what has transpired since the replacement of the timing cover gasket and the PCV system check for the loss of oil.
The Truck now has about 30-40 miles on it and so far have had no leaks around or from the new gasket area. The other is I can let...
Hey guys just finished up putting it all back together but to tired now to test drive.
Will take it out for a long drive this Thursday as work is controlling things.
Can report on this later. I hope that this was on track for the loss of oil issue, more work than I needed but maybe worth the...
I do remember something like that, I still have time to do that as I removed the HB to be ready for the torques to be done but waiting to make sure I have the correct torques.
What kind of grease are you saying to use?
Thanks
Hi guys well I am finally able to install the timing cover today. I had one qestion on the bolt torque specs. My 1980 book shows two torque values as shown in the picture. My engine is a 1982 2F and has three lengths of bolts for the cover, 25 (two bottom) , 12 (four) 8 (six).
Question in the...
Thanks Steamer, I know that Toyota in the past failed to show parts items in listings at times and maybe this was one but I am thinking they may of done away with the star locker maybe in the 1980s. The picture is for my year and shows nothing. thank you for the lead one one if needed.
Cheers
Yes your correct about that, at this point I am observing the lowest point of the bottom area of the timing cover. I cleaned it up as best as possible the area were the front of the oil pan sits next to the lower part of the timing seal. I was not sure if the front of the oil pan gasket was...
Oh boy - I know about not to take out that deflector, maybe it was your post that I came across back in 2009. Even so your post may of saved a few folks from doing just that, good information, never hurts.
I have been searching for info on the star locker washer that fits behind the HB nut...
That would defiantly work for a breaker bar and clutch work but am now true believer in the power of the impact wrench but I may use this to lock the flywheel when installing the nut.
As for the installing of the cover I have been looking at the plate behind the gears and condescending maybe...
Okay tiring to sound calm and cool, witch is pretty hard to do because I am so relived that the pulley is OFF yes off.
As they say the right tool for the right job, I guess my 300 foot pond impact wrench is worn out. At the engine shop they put it on a torque meter to check the output, 150 foot...
When leaning in or pulling on the bar and feeling the amount of torque going into that, I have visualized what can happen to the end of the crank with two much torque applied, that snap sound or falling backwards with a breaker bar and socket with the nut and treads of the crank. I know the...
Mark, you mentioned -breaking the shaft and the rubber separation in the balancer - both I knew about but the amount of foot pounds that is being applied is concerning, over 300 lbs.
This is not good for the push rods, lifters or any part of the system. I'm pretty sure that its not wise to...
Well as I have night duty I am going to give this up for a day or two as this has kicked my ----. Just got back from a local pawn shop were I bought another heavy duty breaker bar with an extension making it around four foot long and put it on the crank bolt and pretty much put all my weight on...
Guys this nut is a B----. my new BB is well built but it has a flex going to it were we might break this one. Just not budging.
A friend and I are now heating it up, and spraying with liquid wrench, waiting about five minutes and then putting ice water on it and still will not brake loose, even...
To counter the rotation I have always put the trans in 4th, put it in Hi 4x4 with the hubs locked and blocked any one of the tires/wheels. The started bump method I have used before as for this time but I lost that battle.
Yeah I am thinking a 25" or 30" long breaker that has some girth to it...
