For Sale 1969 FJ40 Southern Ohio

Well, I had decided not to sell FJ40 but recently I have been getting a lot of interest in it again. I guess folks are digging deep into the older ads on this forum. I took it off the market because I was just too busy to fool around with selling it, plus I like the truck anyway. I have a lot...

Thanks for the kind words guys. It is a fun truck to own and drive. I just have so much other stuff going on I rarely get to enjoy it. :)

For Sale 1969 FJ40 Southern Ohio

One last bump. I've had a lot of emails and phone calls. It seems as if some people may have been put off by the way I've described my fj40 in the ad (needing restoration, etc). My whole intent has been to give an honest and accurate representation of the truck. I would hate for someone...

For Sale 1969 FJ40 Southern Ohio

Thanks, The more I look at this truck, the more I think I should just bite the bullet and restore it myself. It's such a nice original truck it's almost like a time capsule from 1969. I've had a lot of calls and emails, but noone has come out to have a look. I guess if it doesn't sell soon...

For Sale 1969 FJ40 Southern Ohio

I've had a couple of people ask me about the condition of the roll bar mounting area on my truck. I guess this is a rust prone area, but mine seems pretty solid. Since my ad has fallen back to page 4, I'll post some pics of the roll bar and rear sill for a bump. I just learned that the...

For Sale 1969 FJ40 Southern Ohio

An update on my 40. In the original ad I mentioned that the starter may be going bad. On further investigation I found one of the wires to the solenoid had become loose in its terminal connector. Tightened that up and all is well with the starter.

For Sale 1969 FJ40 Southern Ohio

Hey everyone, I've had several inquiries about my truck. Most of you seem to want more photos. My desktop computer monitor is on the blink all of a sudden, I can't figure out how to use my wife's ipad, so I am reduced to using my old laptop, which is also a bit troublesome (I am just not a...

For Sale 1969 FJ40 Southern Ohio

Thanks for the bump. The 3-on-the-tree is actually kind of fun in an "old school" way, and it is the way they came from the factory, for the purist out there. I don't think converting to a floor shift is that big a deal if a complete restoration is being done. I kind of like the original...

For Sale 1969 FJ40 Southern Ohio

More photos and a little more about the truck. It's basically bone stock with the F-engine but it has had a solid state ignition added and a coolant recovery tank. All of the exterior lights work, tranny and clutch seem solid, engine is tired but runs smoothly and doesn't seem to use much...

    Carburetor Sight Glass

Thanks for the replies. I had not even thought about cutting a piece of glass to cover the hole. What kind of bugs me about the sight glass is the fact that it just broke without any help from me and without any warning. I was lucky I was only about a mile from my house when it happened...

    Carburetor Sight Glass

The other day I decided it was time to change the differential/transmission/transfer oil on my '69 FJ40. So I spent a few hours in the 95 degree heat crawling around underneath the truck draining and refilling gear oil. After I was done I figured I should take 'er on a test run so I could...

    Ohio land cruisers

Hey guys, I've been checking out this forum for a few months now. Posted some pics of my '69 FJ40 a while back. Anyway, I just found this Ohio part of the forum and wanted to say hello. Frankly I thought maybe I had the only FJ40 in Ohio. Sure don't see any on the road down here in Peebles...

    Drum Brake woes

The brakes on my '69 act just like yours. On the 1st pump the pedal goes almost to the floor, then the brakes catch. If I pump the pedal again, the brakes are rock solid. I can lock the wheels up and the pressure holds until my leg gets tired of pushing on the pedal, it doesn't leak down. I...

    New guy with a '69 FJ40

Based on the serial no. my truck was built in late '68. As far as I know it spent the first 40 years in the desert southwest, which probably explains why it's still with us. I don't know much about paint so I can't imagine what caused yours to age the way it did.
