Check your lifter rods. These can jamb if the engine becomes too hot and can actually bend causing valve knocking. The engine turns over, so it is not locked up.
Good luck with that one.
Spray can paint is fine for most applications. The chemicals do not burn as hot, so you most likely cannot spray krylon red down and expect a PPG clearcoat over the top of it (it will probably melt your color coat). I would avoid white at it WILL yellow.
Also, the paint dulls alot faster...
Thread CPR
I know this is thread resurrection, but this was never really replied to. Granted, there was really no question asked, but I digress.
Does anyone have experience with the Silla or Replacement radiator manufactures? I am looking to replace my beat to hell radiator for a stock 2F...
If you run an electric, be sure to have a backup. But, I have had the same electric pump for 3 years now without any problems. I think it costed $30.00 at Autozone. Amp draw is not a real big deal on a Cruiser with very limited electronics to begin with. The stock paddle pump is great, but...
Linkage is WAY better than trying to rig some sort of cable to the carb. There is much less slop. It sounds like you have too much movement through the firewall or the ball joint clips are loose. I tightned mine with aircraft wire and it works very smoothly.
$8K my A**! I put 8K in mine and complete removed rust and had the engine rebuilt. I would say he is full of it. For $1,750 to $2,000, maybe... I would suggest someone who has done the rust removal already however.
I had no problem with JTO ordering any of my Weber stuff. You DO have to use a original carb part for the late model linkages, but the cable conversion comes with the kit. Seeking out typo's a complaining when you knew it was the case is not exactly a fair assessment, your lucky you got a hat...
You guys at $2,000 are smoking crack! You will put a lot of time and metal in to getting rid of rust. Personally, the mechanical work is easy, it's the body work I would pass on. 300K is easy in 30 years, especially if the cruiser was towed. One owner, top never off. You have about $800 of...
Dear Abby:
My Cruiser is pretty much finished out except for one item: a large rectangular hole where the original radio use to reside. My new unit is locked away in a tuffy console leaving a large viewport to the wires and cables attaching the A/C unit. I have an original 2F with stock...
I'm fairly happy with my Man-A-Fre exhaust. The fit at the header is not the best and you WILL have to rig a few washers to bolt it down. I think the chrome headers were like $175 and I bought it when the offered free shipping. I then paid about $65.00 at a local shop to run the rest of the...
You'll spend 5-6K depending on your rust. That's not billing time....but if you were not willing to spend the time you would be a late model used Heep.
You can always weld in a spacer to move the linkage rod away from the shock. I had this problem when installing my 4".
