I miss my friend Don for sure, he was a favorite person to wheel with. Your caring for his rig and improving on it is kinda keeping his memory alive. Thanks for doing it right, he would appreciate it for certain!
How do I search for the specific character string 'a slash c' ?? Search seems to find "a" plus stupid stuff like words that being with "c" (like "a cold") but there are lots of posts with "A/C" in the title or text of the thread, which search seemingly ignores. I have tried A/C and "A/C" and...
I have verified that at the ECU connector.
I'll chase these next. I wish I had a Toyota handheld tester.
Im also gonna throw a Fuel Pressure Regulator on it. Can't hurt (except my wallet).
Im starting to think there's insufficient fuel pressure. I can't think what else could make the bloody thing idle but ignore throttle inputs. If the throttle is very slowly opened, the engine will increase maybe 200 or 300 RPM and then stay there no matter how much the throttle is opened. If...
OK, progress but no progress. The broken wire issues have been fixed. I confirmed by OBD-II gauge showing apparent correct throttle position. But the same symptoms persist, no throttle response, no CELs. Where do I go next?
OK, thanks, progress. I had searched for it but was only looking in this forum. The 3 wires of the TPS other than the E2 are shown as direct connection to the ECU. So no connectivity to for the IDL lead from TPS to ECU would seem to be at least part of my problem.
Should I run a 16AWG wire...
I have a FSM (paper) but no EWD. I have checked the TPS per the procedure in the manual and it checks OK. I have traced the 4 wires from the TPS to connector E5 on the ECU. I have connectivity from the TPS plug wire to the same color wire on the E5 connector EXCEPT for the G-W wire (green with...
Suggestion....from just having done the HG replacement: keep 2 of the original studs, and carefully cut the heads off, then grind the cut smooth and rounded off. When you get ready to put the head back on, put one of each of these studs (now headless) in the deck at opposite corners, just a...
97 TLC. Essentially unmodified from stock, but massively reconstructed...frame swap etc, so if there is something wrong, its likely my doing. Yes, it ran before the teardown.
So I've got the beast all back together from frame swap and professional head rebuild. Engine starts and idles...
That would be time consuming and expensive, but not really difficult. There's 10 bolts securing body to frame. I removed the furniture and carpet to get at the bolts but it could be done with it all in there. I used a well reviewed rust converter on the frame and then Rustoleum flat black...
Its not the body Im trying to lift. The body currently sits on a 2-post lift, the frame is fully separated. Im trying to lift the entire engine/trans/xfer case assembly out of the bent frame and move it into the straight frame. I just need a good estimate of the weight of the combined...
So Im well into swapping the (bent) frame from under my '97 TLC, and I'm contemplating the way to attack the engine/trans/xfer assembly move. Does anyone have a fairly high confidence weight for the whole thing? I need to determine if my hoist and/or my tractor is capable of safely hoisting...
How much, and are you willing to ship it? Can you provide some pics? Is it all straight, any rust? If you prefer email, my address is my forum name at gmail.
I need the entire vertical assembly from leading edge of left fender to right fender, both headlight mount plates, the hood latch mount, and the cross member across the bottom, the whole thing, I think its like 5 different pieces. Im trying to repair a nice 97 that was in a front collision...
I havent posted on this thread in almost 7 years...but the swap is long since done, and has performed perfectly. Its the gen1 4Runner Toyota shoulda made to start with. "The Toyota Whisperer" Nick in Skyline, Al did the wiring integration, and its been flawless. On long constant speed highway...
97 TLC, high mileage (almost 300K miles) with past HG failure and replacement, and recently the PO busted the radiator and drove her overheating till she stalled. Currently, it will start and run smooth, but my pro assessment is engine needs rebuild or replacement. Appears to be no oil/water...
