If you are interested in just straight replacements, i have a set of knuckles from a 76 axle which have the smaller pattern that i dont want/need. you would just need to pay shipping if you want them. PM me if interested.
I use to flat tow my 40 with my F150, and sure it could easily do it from power perspective, but it was illegal (not to mention not safe). that FJ40 had no problems pushing my f150 around whenever i had to brake suddenly. Braking and the ability to stop are your major concerns here, not so...
x2 on ducktapeguy. Don't think that the shelling out of your hard-earned money stops with the original purchase...
Good luck and welcome to the sickness!
I too have the AA adapter for the 465 and haven't had a problem with it. Very well built and incorporates a spot for a crossmember as well.
As for stock height, your height will probably change a little bit since you are changing trannies anyways but i can't imagine it changing by much. You...
1 3spd Tcase from a 69 FJ40. Case works well and is fully complete. Includes AA propeller tcase cross member mount and pucks, shifter and linkage, parking brake drum and cable. Parking brake works. Vacuum shift was replaced for the mechanical one years ago.
I am asking $200 obo. Will...
This didn't happen to me, but a friend did a frame off of a 78 and use POR for the frame. It looked awesome, but after some time the front frame horns started to fade and even turn a whitish color. Maybe POR doesn't have a good UV protectant?
Good Luck!
If finances are no issue, I would probably pass. I think you can find one for more money but less than what you would spend on this one to make it comparable.
I think Poser is correct, be wary of that east coast rust! I grew up on the east coast and everything metal rusted....
Just my...
Nice. that is much cleaner than when i ran my corvette m/c.
Just FWIW the change for me from a manual m/c to my boosted one was probably 1 of the better upgrades I have done in recent years. I was never comfortable with that corvette m/c (could never hold the cruiser when i needed it), but...
Ditto. the 69's have a rib too. That is why i went with the booster from a suburban. It is propped out from the firewall with a bracket that almost clears that rib. I had to add a spacer to fully clear it and my clutch m/c.
Here is a picture of it from advance auto parts...
Degnol, I ran that same setup on my 69 FJ. I had a 76 front axle with toy discs, and GM calipers in the rear. I am pretty sure i had the 76 vette MC that was proportioned for 4 wheel disc. While this set up works, it didn't give me enough pressure. Not only did i have to leave a good amount...
No hard info on the split case, but I myself ordered an HD to replace my 69 stock t-case (should ship tomorrow! thanks georg)
cast iron 1 piece case vs split aluminum case (or so i believe) = winner HD
billet aluminum nose cone vs ? = winner HD
new 4:1 gears vs stock 1.96 (not sure, can't...
Sun - yes.
Wind - Not in my experience as i usually run without doors. I would imagine if you run with a bikini and doors that would help a lot more than just a bikini.
Good luck!
I forgot...blueflame is right. It does suck in wind (and rain) from the back. I run mine for about 8...
