It has a short 90° bend and goes thru a hole in the center "seam" with a washer and maybe a cotter pin (edit: it looks like a snap ring type). The other end I just rest on the valve cover.
Here is my delima, I have a freeborn red patina'd hood on my 71 which I am currently painting green, I stopped at the hood because I didn't want to paint over that bitchin patina, so if I get a similar year/condition hood in return that I can paint I'm good with that. An idea....
I think I only have pairs but I will try to give a look to see if I have an odd number, in some things I do like I have an extra passenger front door...
I've been gathering parts for years for my fj45xcab build and have the same delima about a tailgate but i have a few extra set of hatch doors and have seen a tailgate made from them and it looked great. Tailgates are much harder to come by than half doors so I don't feel too bad about welding...
The build I'm planning isn't a 40 shorty but an extended cab 45 and I plan on keeping the hatch operable but going to try shortened/modified ambi doors that way i can just open half ....if i can figure it out :D
