Soon I plan on taking my 80 to a mechanic to have him check out the truck in terms of things that may need to be replaced etc. I was wondering if there are typical parts at this mileage. I've already had the main oil seals replaced and I will be doing the front end rebuild when I have some...
I'm not 100% familiar with the shackle setup, but I'm assuming that the intended reason for the block being threaded is so that you can torque the bolt to a specific value then put the nut on to act as a jam nut. If that's the case, then you shouldn't be putting a whole lot of torque on the nut...
If you know the size of the bolt, you can just order a replacement from McMaster. I don't know why it has the small part on the end, that seems useless unless it is for safety wire or something. If you order from McMaster, it will be there within a day usually, their shipping is extremely fast...
I'm an undergraduate student at USC with an 80. Soon, I want to take it to a mech. to figure out what sort of work it needs to keep it running etc. I know there is some problem with the starter and transmission. However, after several trips to the local dealer, I've become somewhat leery of...
You might look into getting a different brand battery. I've had great experience with Enersys batteries. It was in a bit of a different application, but the qualitiy and reliability was there. We were pulling 1700 amps into 3 five-h.p. electric motors for about 30s. This was enough to melt...
Kino: I just picked up my 93 LC yesterday from getting those leaks fixed. I knew about the rear main, it was fairly obvious. However, I didn't realize there was an upper oil pan, shame on me. This leak has been there for about 20k miles now so it finally got fixed. If I remember correctly...
I recently had my 80 serviced for a vibration problem at the dealer. It turned out that the U-joints were about to fall out. After I got the truck back, there was still a strange vibration at around 50mph. It doesn't occur at idle or when you rev. the engine. I think this might be the wheel...
Hey, Im in Troop 1 down in Columbia. Working on the Eagle this Fall as well, or at least tenativly. And yes we're 221, the Muskegee lol however you spell it lodge. Im a brotherhood member in that. Every now and then I take the TLC out to some construction sites around my neighboor hood just...
Ya, I really wana get involved in some offroading two, but I havent had the funds for the stuff I need like OME. Right now, the cash is almost saved up. Might end up getting OME and installing in the Fall. I assume you guys are in UpstateCruisers? Ive been really busy with Carolina Crown...
Ya, I'm in Columbia as well, still a little stocker 80 :-\. I have the money for OME but right now the rear main is leaking like a mofo and its almost to its rebuild state. BTW someone up at Clemson U. had a nice 80. It was gray, ummm PIAA lights, OME suspension. Looked really good.
Hrmm. Ya so I better just invest in a whole rebuild. Just wondering how much are parts? I know it would be worth while to get em from Dan or someone with a decent discount, but how much is it from the dealership?
Well my gas miliage is in the gutter and it's not due to a heavyfoot or lots of goodies cuz its stock. I have a sneaky suspesion that it is due to the various leaks. So knowing this let me pose this question. How much would it be to get the seals all replace and the hoses, that need to be...
Hey, the 80 is approachin 200k and it is rackin up the various failures in the engine. The head gasket is leaking as well as the rear main. I am lookin to do a full engine rebuild replace all the seals etc. and was wondering what that would run me.
I'm a big Porsche fan, but not one of the Cayanne. ONe thing AI am glad of is the fact that they still made it a Porsche. I hunk of metal that can go as fast as a car, makes like 450hp and weighs 3tons is a work of art. These things are beasts on road. Off-Road they are about the equivelent...
Thanks guys, i pretty much figured anything about 10-20 mph was really bad so its not like ima take this beast to the local tuner shop and start a race. Me and my dad were exploring some construction sites and i locked it up to get the acctuators a work out and he was like noooooooo not above...
Ok, they haven't really hit on the really bad cause. Look under you rig at the lower oil pan. Now look right behind it on the rear main pan. If it is covered in oil then your Rear Main Seal is leaking. This isn't uncommon on older LC's but its expensive to replace and its a tough DIY job...
Well my applications for this would be mostly camping weekends and some hiking, and just other various stuff. I like this one over the black diamond one because of the dual option and the massive amount of LEDs on it (8), also since it has the battery pack it burns twice as long which is...
