I'd be interested to know the same. Planning on recovering/installing BMW seats and back seat in leather in matching bufallo hides. The hides aren't cheep, so I want to make sure I buy enough the first time around so they match...

Did a Rodney flush this weekend. Im curious if the amount of fine smutz collected on the pan magnets is normal. It's been a about 30k since the last trans service. 247k miles on the vehicle. What do you think?
Thanks for the recco. Just perused at Tor's site and read about their work on past projects - including the thread on this forum about the cool build that went to Mexico & beyond. Real craftsmanship, and in my backyard. His shop wasn't open when I had my 62's 5 years ago… Will be paying Tor &...
I'm in the market for a professionally done V8 conversion. Must be mechanically sound and rust free. Interior/dash must be super clean. Not looking for a pimped-out rock crawler, but a tastefully done FJ.
I have owned an 88 & 89 and loved them, but found they drank fuel and couldn't tow...
An ASE certified mechanic with 20 years experience tested the system, and made that anecdotal comment RE flow.
Temps read 225 at therm housing and 175 at bottom hose.
I'm Uber-burping/filling the system per experts here, and I'm buying/installing an OEM thermostat (last one was from NAPA...
Typical overheating scenaio: will run on first gauge hashmark, then steadily climbs to 7/8 mark while under light load going up residential (steepish) hills. then stays at 1/3-12 mark until put under load again.
Just tested for Hydrocarbons in coolant - negatory.

Subject: '89 FJ62, 166k miles. Well maintained RE oil changes, tranny flush and fluid changes, etc.
She began overheating last summer on the highway. Seemed to have a coolant leak as the overflow tank would get sucked dry once a week or so, then it'd overheat. Couldn't locate a specific leak...

was where the PO of my '62 kept his hide-a-key from since the rig was new. Figured I'd leave it there since it handn't fallen out in 15 years.

The key rattle thing... an even better solution.
I've been using those self adhesive felt furniture foot pads for the key/steering column noise problem. You can get pre-cut pieces, or a large (4"x6") sheet and cut your own to fit. The peel-off adhesive backing makes the job easy. $2.49 at home...

Dan J-
He stays in the back 98% of the time, but he sheds like a 3week-old roadkill and slobbers 1.3 qts. per min. He's a Laverick English setter (the larger variety, and very handsome I might add), but very messy. Just trying to keep the flotsom and jetsom in the...
... and the stinky mutt won't stay in the cargo area. Any suggestions for a dog barrier that doesn't mess-up the headliner on install? Most I see use a pressure fit from floor to cieling and kinka look like a pain to remove/intall.
Problem is that the glass fell out on the highway - I dunno how it attached to the automatic adjusters - and I don't have the hardware that mounts it to the mirror body... Makes me think I need a factory replacement peice of glass or a whole new assembly.
I busted the glass out of my '89's passenger side power mirror. Just have whats left of the little screw-in plastic studs twirling in the auto-adjusters
Anyone know if I can get replacement glass and studs or do I need to buy a new/used mirror?
Thanks....
I recently got my '89 FJ back from the paint shop. Installed an OME suspension and new Michelins, new chrome, etc. Detailed the truck and she looks purty.
I'd like to get a roof basket rack w/steps (easier to get the beer out of the back-up cooler) and am looking for suggestions on make...

Anybody have experience with sliding rear quarter windows in a 60/62 in regard to installation and durability.
I'm looking at installing a set while I have the rear glass out for painting. It'd make my Dog really happy not to have to poke his nose out over the back seat.
