Ok.. I'm still having some problems getting the C clip back on. I went to sears and bought a 1-5/32 size lock ring plier which looks exactly like what you guys have. But it doesn't expand the C-ring large enough for me to get it back on. Am I doing something wrong? I didn't see any other size...
wow, I just went to sears and I had always thought that nobody shops at sears. Well, nobody does, but if I had to pick a place to buy tools, Sears would now be the place! That store has every damned tool you could possibly want.
ok...I've done something completely stupid and now I am not sure what to do. When I was taking the caliper off, I took unscrewed the wrong bolts. Then, some liquid, which I simply assumed was brake fluid, started leaking from the caliper. So I quickly tried to screw the bolts back on. There's...
Glad that there are 4 of us now...Of the 3 others, how many are just changing the pads? If any are doing that, the job is a lot easier (I know how to do that part). After reading Jim_chow's explanation, I think I'm over my head a little because I don't know what he's talking about. 54mm?!?! That...
just keep the chains with you. I've been to mammoth many many many times over the last few years. I've never had to use chains yet. Actually, that's not exactly true. I got centered on some off beat path trying to go to the hot springs. And if you're anticipating a snow storm, pray that it hits...
How do you get the rotor off for the front? I just took the caliper off, and now I am stuck. Is the rotor supposed to be fixed to the outside housing or is it supposed to be that way when I purchase it? I ask this because I paid less than what Kali said I should be paying, so maybe I didn't get...
I would be interested in this as well. I am currently trying to do the brake job myself. i don't have an impact wrench, and didn't realize that I needed one. I took the tire off, took the caliper off, then realized, I couldn't get the rotor off. (I had worn the pad down to the metal and not...
what kind of mpg are you guys getting? I find that when I use 89 or 91 and I drive mostly highway I get just over 18 mpg while averaging between 70 and 75 mph. I figure that's not too bad. When I use 87 though, my mpg goes to complete crap. I'm not sure why that is, but figured the car was not...
I just wish and pray that the gas prices will keep going up, hopefully there will be less people on the road, and then I won't have to drive through traffic.
it's really easy to remove the rotors. And I know nothing about cars. Just pull the caliper off and you should be able to just pull the rotor off. Make sure the parking break is not on. Having the rotors turned is fine. It's less than 10 bucks to have a rotor turned.
