progress
Sad to say not much has changed as life suddenly got really busy. I have not even had a chance to take it off road which is really getting frustrating. I did put a warn m8000 on the front, and the rear shocks are in.
I am still missing the front shocks, trim the rear fenders, weld...
location
Oops, sorry I though I had put that in there. I am in Ooltewah tn, which is about 15 minutes east of chattanooga. I would be willing to help meet within reason.
I have a complete front end for a fj40 that has been cut and turned. Axle is complete and feels to be in great shape. Has been sitting outside under a tarp for about 8 months so there is a little surface rust but not bad. Is complete from drum to drum.
I was going to put under my truck but...
first day out finally
Well I finally took out the truck for the first time in a while. It runs amazingly well, I now have a dual exhaust installed, and brakes and clutch done.
I am still missing some fender trimming, shocks, bump stops, and mounting a winch. Here are a few pics before...
gear ratio
Hijack away, I have no problem with it. According to what I have read, the sm465 has a 6.55 low and the np205 has a 1.98 low thus the overall ratio would be 12.97:1. Not sure about the stock stuff, might depend on the year.
yeah yeah
I was at the spring shop buying springs before I had the axles on so I looked up 14 bolt springs online and used their specs to have mine made. Turns out they were lift block u-bolts. I am planning on using them as bumpstops .
As an update, turns out the hydraulic hose is...
I guess as a progress report, I now have the 2 speed taurus fan mounted and wired to the stock radiator. The starter, alternator, and coil are all hooked up. All throttle linkages and fuel lines are hooked up.
I just found today that oreileys sells a 12mm to 10mm brake adapter that will...
As for the axles, I had a dana 60 to go in the rear but found out it had a messed up pinion bearing so rather than trying to redo the bearing which I heard is a pain if you have never done it before I ended up going with a 14 bolt full floater with the gov-bomb in it. The only modifications I...
update
Wow it has been almost a year since I started this project. I am actually almost done.
As for the rear axle I did make a removable cross member by cutting the crossmember behind the transfer case and flipping it to accomodate the centered output of the 205. I made it removable so that...
