    Fire Extinguisher

I have a 2.5# H3R Halotron and ABC dry chem in each vehicle. The Halotrons are expensive (almost $160/ea), but are clean agent and don't leave any residue.

4th of July Weekend Jemez 604/607

We had rain for the majority of Saturday morning/afternoon and into early evening - started becoming more sporadic late afternoon. Evening was dry and into Sunday morning and actually had the sun peak out a bit in the AM. We packed up and rolled out around 1pm just as another storm rolled in...

Have fun all - we’re going to head up further north and find a spot somewhere along the Rio Chama.

4th of July Weekend Jemez 604/607

I'll see if I can convince the family to head out on Saturday morning. We just returned from a 10 day trip to Yellowstone, so they might want to take it easy for another weekend. The 2016 Trail worked out well - had a Front Runner roof rack, Dobinsons drawers, Rago side panels, and a Snomaster...

    New Years Day Run

Figures! We’re stuck in FL until Wed - have fun. Last time we had snow like this up there was the 2016 run.

    New Years Day Run

We’ll be back in town late on 31st - depending on where/how much snow we may go. I’d be taking the stock, 2016 Trail 4-Runner.

    Your favorite stoves

I was using a MSR Dragonfly for the longest time - I don't eat fancy in the field, so for me boiling water for Mountain House was the main use. My wife likes to cook, but didn't really like it for cooking. We recently bought a Partner 22" two-burner stove. I don't think there is anything else...

    New Year's Day No-Snow Run - Jemez

I think you'd be good up to camp spot 3 - past that there becomes some tighter turns and uphills. When we camped up there over Labor Day we saw quite a few campers scattered about - some I was like how did they get back there....

    New Year's Day No-Snow Run - Jemez

First two are from Google Earth, last one is from a USFS 7.5 minute map. The pins are places I have plotted before on GE and not related to the trip - other than the turn around area. Last image is the nice meadow we stopped for lunch.

    New Year's Day No-Snow Run - Jemez

We’re still planning on it. I have a friend from work that may join as well. We don’t have a defined route, but my take would be FR144 up around VC.

    New Year's Day No-Snow Run - Jemez

It is 144 on the map - I keep calling it FR4 though. I’d like to try 144 up around Valles Caldera.

    New Year's Day No-Snow Run - Jemez

We might take the new (almost a year old) 4-Runner Trail instead of the 80 if we stick to the main forest roads in the Jemez. I don’t think Han wants it all scratched up just yet....

    New Year's Day No-Snow Run - Jemez

Is there a route we would plan or just do an out and back? I went up the star when I was up there in Sept - just before the entrance to the Valles Caldera. I guess it just depends on how long we want to be out - getting stuck in snow shouldn't be a worry this year. Han's mom is in town, so...

    New Year's Day No-Snow Run - Jemez

If we go to Jemez is there a preference for FR4 or Ponderosa area?
