I'm in the process of fabricating a custom bumper mount for my 1962 FJ40 and noticed that a PO had tweaked the center out a bit (Probably trying to pull something ge shouldn't of). I would like to make it as flat as possible. Wear would be the best way to straighten this? Remove the channel...
After repairing the exhaust/intake heat valve I was installing the carburetor and noticed the insulator was pretty rough looking. Does anyone know the correct insulator for a 1962 FJ40 with a stock carburetor?

Discovered by fuel tank pickup tube is clogged today and I'm trying to get an idea on what the end in the tank looks like, so I don't damage it? Any thoughts? I can get a good sized wire about 6 inches in then it stops.
I just added 5 gallons of gas, so I know it's not empty.

I'm finally getting in a position to get things working correctly on my FJ40. I've had a long history of reliability issues with the engine and excessive fuel usage. I'm thinking a vacuum leak somewhere, but I've never been able to pin point it. Typically it will be real hard to keep running...
What's the easiest way to test your alternator? Just recovered from some electrical issues and I'm pretty sure it's fried. Idle voltage us 12.4 volts. Regulator is new.
In the process of replacing burned wires from a meltdown, I inadvertently forgot to take notes on the wire going from the "IG" connection on the voltage regulator to the ignition switch. Unfortunately electrical diagrams I've seen don't show that connection path. I'm pretty sure it was connected...
I noticed the choke cable grommet has three small holes to possibly allow some type of mounting hardware that would support the choke cable. Is there supposed to be something there that I may be missing?
Anyone know the best source for a set of firewall grommets. From what I can tell on my 1962 FJ40 the two large are 46mm and the three smaller ones are about 26mm. Does that sound about right?

After a serious brain malfunction of reversing the connection from the regulator to alternator, this is the result. Luckily it appears so far that just the one wire between the starter and ignition was fried.
On another SD40 that I'm working on I noticed that the slow jet would not tighten up. I happened to have another one tore down and noticed the thread length is definitely longer. Anyone ever seen this?
Looking for the Main Nozzle for a Aisan SD-40 carb. Item #3 in the diagram. Btw, this was a carb I bought years ago and finally got around to getting it rebuilt.
