Sometimes the boot will get a pinhole and leak/spray grease like that. I repaired one like that with a product called The Right Stuff after doing some research. Almost 4 years ago and still holding. Here's the thread where I documented...
Agreed that there was a ton of energy transferred to the frame. Fit of upper and lower hatch was among first things I checked and thankfully all good there. Looking further ahead on the frame I can see no evidence of that anything shifted or moved - no buckling/wrinkling/paint crinkling at...
Good input all, thanks! Any thoughts on how the insurance company may value the vehicle if totaled?
@SteveH when I say she’s bone stock I mean it, right down to the spare tire!
If I go with a new Slee bumper I’ll then have to go with the tire carrier and new spare. I just put new Open...
Thanks @Malleus, didn’t think to look at the rear end mounting points (duh!). I’ll look at the rear cross member and those mounting points to see what I can see.
So, on her way home from work yesterday my wife got hit from behind by a kid on his phone while driving an Altima. The trailer hitch took the impact and smoked the front end of his car. As it turns out we know the kid so have not called insurance as yet. I got a better look at the LC this...
And just like that - I got the old one out, the new one out, and pressed the new one into the old pulley! Now to put it on! Thanks @nissanh, didn’t see your message until I came back to post the result but I got it lined up and used a socket to press in with a vice. Everything went pretty...
So my wife came home from work saying “the LC was making a screeching noise today.” Popped the hood and saw nothing visibly wrong, cranked it up and immediately saw that the tensioner pulley was frozen (171k mikes - original tensioner). Guess what? I had an assembly on the shelf! As the...
Here’s a pic. Not enjoying this - this is one job I wished I’d let someone else do at this point. The good news is that by crumbling it unplugged, kinda. This allowed me to turn the alternator enough to get the rest of the wiring off.
Well, doing mine and just had the plug crumble…good thing I read a few threads that recommended buying the plug housing (#90980-11349) when buying the new alternator. Now I’ll just have to find a thread that shows how to put it back together. I took the pic below so at least I have the wiring...

I found it difficult to get the new pin boots over the lip on the torque plate so just went with it seated against he lip. Would like to go back in and seat them properly, any tips?
I’ve been through a quite few threads to get answers to a few questions on how the shims, pad support plates, and squealer fit on the rear brakes. Figured I’d just land this picture here for future reference and for others. There’s some discussion about which shim goes inner and which goes...
