This thread is MASSIVE! Hard to think it all started with a few little body mounts. How about a re-cap of the current project??? What year is the chassis? What year is the body? How much of your original 55 body made it on to the new build? What are the specs on the engine? C'MON! we need...

Damn that color looks soooo good. Blends right in with the high desert trees and kinda looks like a forest service vehicle. LOVE IT!

The real accomplishment here is that he is doing all this work in HALF of a 2 car garage with like a 7ft ceiling! And don't get me started on the HOA, they want him to clean the oil stains off the driveway... Have you ever seen a paint booth? They are like the size of your whole house. I think...

Fine spline means that the teeth are smaller but there are more of them. More teeth = more better/more engagement Bigger teeth may sound better but since there are less, there is less engagement and not as strong.

New Splitcase adapter kit option from Axis Industries

Ok, so next question is how do you get an 8HP70 8 speed auto to adapt to a 3FE or 2F!?!? I know I'd be interested. Cool product, it's great to see companies coming up with new products and support for LC's

FJ62 RPM's while cruising at 70 mph A440 Auto Trans

Update: Sat night. Did the Rodney "Party Trick" ie: slam it in park while driving at 60 mph to fee up some clogged valves or something. Did not result in any improvement in torque converter lock up. Brough it to the shop that did the transmission rebuild in 2002. They confirmed yes. It is not...

FJ62 RPM's while cruising at 70 mph A440 Auto Trans

Ok so I took the truck out to do a bit of testing today. 1. Checked fluid level. Fluid is full, clean and good to go. 2. Checked kickdown cable adjustment. Seems to be in spec. Shifts are crisp but not too harsh. There is no "acorn swedge/stopper" on the cable so it's hard to go by the fsm...

FJ62 RPM's while cruising at 70 mph A440 Auto Trans

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I have installed an aux. Trans cooler. I do believe it's going into 4th. I've counted shifts from stopped and it sounds like 4 gears, but I need to confirm that the converter is locking up. Guess I'll head back to the shop who did the rebuild a few years ago...

FJ62 RPM's while cruising at 70 mph A440 Auto Trans

I'll check tomorrow at the exact size but they are 31's I believe. Possibly 32's Edit: 31x10.5 r15 Yes I do believe the rpm's seem higher than normal. Torque converter not locking up? Kickdown cable too tight?

FJ62 RPM's while cruising at 70 mph A440 Auto Trans

Good afternoon fellow Cruiserheads. What RPMs are you experiencing while cruising at 70 in your FJ62 with the auto trans? Im getting 2800 rpm at 70 mph on flat ground and i feel like im just pushing the engine too hard. and 2650 at 66 mph. It feels high and im thinking the torque converter...

Christiaan! Looking good. Those springs are BEEF! they will help when loaded up, heading to the snow, oh wait... None of that this year. You should see some of the cruisers down here in Australia... V8 turbo diesels with 5 speeds and all the goodies... I'm trying to figure out how to bring one...

Xtiaan! looks epic man, i can see how frustrating it is when hard work like painting gets messed up when you paint the next part. Still gonna use those slings for climbing??? Looks good man, cant wait to get back to the states and get some wrenching, sailing and climbing done together! -Jordan

    35 INCH lbs...?

Go to Harbor Freight and buy an inch/pound torque wrench for less than $20. It will be worth it. Usually cork products do not work well when over tightened.
