Hi,
Managed to get a diagnostic tool, which didn't pick up any faults. Checked ATF, was good. Local tin shed mechanic thinks I need to change the gearbox!
Never been left stranded by a 'cruiser before. Hope it's something simple that I've overlooked. What drives the gear selector in these...
Hi guys,
I have 2008 200-series, only 40000 miles on it.
Reverse has taking a bit of time to engage lately, and today I lost all gears except 1st and 2nd. This happened just after some muppet steam cleaned the interior. Could it be related, or is it an older issue with the tranny, given how...
There are plenty of 100 series in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Don't know about Burundi or Rwanda though, but Toyota coverage in the area is good, with dealers in all major towns. Auto 'boxes are much more common now than a few years ago.
Accessories are way more expensive, unless you have...
Hi there, some guy (commenting here: YouTube - Land Rover Discovery / LR3 The Big Lift ) claims to have bought a diesel 105 from a dealer in the US - is that possible?
Is there a loophole that lets you off emissions regs etc?
Cheers!
14000km!! Not much at all. I know a few guys with the Cooper LTZs over here and they last much longer. How bad are your roads, lol? Maybe the wheel alignment is off?
dtt: a steel bumper isn't a necessity in the desert, or even in mud. The stock setup in the pic above is good for people who live in places where a dirt roads can turn into a muddy pit, or have to winch occasionally but don't want the extra weight or looks of a steel bumper.
However, it looks...
Just been doing some reading - this is a very common issue with the V8 diesel. Current fix is the vacuum pump, but rumour has it that newly designed rings will soon be released.
A temporary fix is to switch to 15W 40 oil.
Takstar23, speak to your dealer about this - he must have heard about it.
There have been quite a few reports of this - most dealers say it's normal for the first few thousand kms, until the first oil change. Mention it to your dealer though, the more reports Toyota get about this, the better.
It looks s**i, to be blunt lol! Front bumper reminds me of a Q7. Hope the cruiser doesn't go the way of pimped-out Range Rovers etc. It's akin to castration.
Not impossible, but it would be a real pain in the backside. With the cheap price of gas in the US, why would you want an oil burner?
ECUs will all need to changed (there are a lot more electronics in the 200 than previous cruisers), engine mounts may be different, fuel tank, pumps and lines...
Same BFGs, but used in very different ways. Most off-roading in Aus (and SAfrica) is long-distance driving over unmade, rocky roads. The very hard compound of the BFG A/T doesn't suit these conditions and sometimes chips more easily than slightly softer compounds.
General (owned by...
For the ultimate, go hydraulic. A friend has one on his LR3 and it's great - you don't need to worry about overheating etc. I'd also recommend plasma rope rather than steel, but you can change this later.
Around here, many use the Warn xp 9.5.
No chance. The Disco 1&2 were in the same class as Prados rather than 80s - both price wise and size wise. The RangeRover was in the same price range (at least over here) as a VX 80 (your LS450?).
You don't want a Range Rover from that era (P38).....trust me. They were excellent when new but...
