Brief update: Sometimes it's the simplest (cheapest) fix. Checked the radiator this morning. Almost empty. Filled it and proceeded to work with no issues. Heater blew hot air and water temp, nominal. Next I need to investigate how I lost the coolant. Thanks,
Thanks for the quick responses. I'll check the level in the morning and go from there.
I'll post some more photos tomorrow as well.
In the meantime, I'll say that if you're looking for a great off road adventure, you can do worse than joining a 15-day, 5,000 mile, run-what-ya-brung race...
Photo is from the 2009 Budapest to Bamako Off-road Race. It was the adventure of a lifetime. That was one of the last times it was safe to race in Mali. The race is still happening, but finishing in nearby Sierra Leone. We were the only team from the US. The LC was the perfect vehicle. If you...
It's about 11 miles to work and it's been cold in the mornings (50-60F). But no warm air is coming out of the heater for the first 8-10 minutes, even though the temp gauge show water temp at it's normal midway point. Then the temp guage shows the water temp climbing until it just about hits the...
Hail all,
The CEL just came on on my new '96 80-. Truck has 125K and runs well.
So...
1. Can someone recommend a budget code reader?
2. Can I get a brief explanation for replacing the O2 sensor?
Thanks,
Don't know what these thing are called or even what they do (not much).
But I need the nuts to hold both the right and left thingy down (4 nuts)
Interior is Oak.
PM Me if you have any.
Thanks

1996 LC
I put the WeatherTech mats in my last cruiser. They were OK, but I was somewhat bummed that at the high price, I still had to cut them to fit.
Since the new ride will be mainly used as a daily driver, I looked into OEM mats from my local Toyota Dealer (Cabe Toyota, Long Beach). I was surprised...
The only one available at Toyota is all black and costs about $13. I'd like to find a used one that matches.
Please PM me if you have one or have a lead.
Thanks,

Need Seat Recline Lever
I know you didn't list it, but thought I'd ask anyway...
Do you the driver's seat recline lever? The only part available from Toyota is black. I'd like to find one that matches the original paint/leather.
Please PM if you have one or have a lead.
Thanks,
The ad said 131K. I forgot to confirm the number on the odometer since I knew I'd be coming back.
Carfax showed 200k at one point and then 231 recently.
So I suspect it was either a typo in the ad or a weak attempt to mislead. Probably the former.
As always, thanks for the info guys.
I do a lot of FW driving so CC is important to me. But sounds like there maybe an easy fix.
HoweverI found another problem... the elusive "3rd problem".
Although the ad says 131K on clock. Carfax shows 231K.
So this one's out. But it drove very well...
Looked at a 97 TLC today.
It had a couple of small issues that may not be so small... Please help me put repair costs to them.
1. Cruise control dash light blinks and CC will not engage. I've had CCs not work in the past, but this blinking dash light seems to be inditive of some specific...
careful use of the search button yielded me some info. first tried Super Charger and found very little info. took out the space and got plenty.
I didn't know that you needed 91O. Found one post that indicated that milage is about the same. All seem to agree that the boost adds stress to the...
Hey all,
Haven’t been on this site for a couple of years. Good to see it’s still rocking.
Sold my last 94 LC at the Bamako Used Truck Bizarre after the 09 Budapest to Bamako Rally.
I loved that truck and now I want another one.
Saw a 96 LX with 130K, lockers, and a super charger for sale.
Here’s...
I like the look of that hitch. But I'n afraid it will add a little too much weight to my luggage for the flight.
I could bring the bolt/pin that secures the tounge to the receiver. Should be able to slip the loop of the recovery strap around it and basically get the same effect though...
B,
thanks for the resonse.
truck still has the four corner tow loops.
I don't have a D shackle. Need one?
Here's a shot of the back end.
Of interest to some, will be the 45 gallon Front Runner Aux tank. Definately not for rock crawling, but still enough clearance for overlanding.
