Parking brake adjustments after replacing shoes.

No. But I was never planning to do it anyway. It's holding fine and it's just a parking brake. I'm hoping that new drums match up with new shoes the way they're supposed to.

Parking brake adjustments after replacing shoes.

Well, I fixed the parking brake. I replaced the new Napa shoes with oem shoes and the adjustment is right back where it's supposed to be. And it will actually hold the vehicle now! I can't see any difference but the tolerances must be different. With the Napa shoes there was no way to take up...

    Anyone go from a 200 back to a 100?

I have a 2021 Heritage but kept the 2003 LC I've had since it was new. The 200 is my daily driver and is much more comfortable, especially for long trips on freeways. I also pull a boat up to our family cabin in the mountains which includes several 13-16% grades and there is no comparison...

Parking brake adjustments after replacing shoes.

I followed the procedures exactly in the FSM for brake service. It's a California rig so it's rust free and the bellcranks move easily and have never required any specific service. On the last try, I only backed off 5-6 clicks and was very careful that I was only grabbing one click on the...

What have you done to your 100 Series this week?

If you just use the drain plug on the transmission you'll only get 2-3 quarts out. The transmission holds almost 12 so to get it all, you have to do an exchange using the pump through the cooler lines. It's an easy job and really doesn't take that long. I've only done mine once in 220,000 miles...

Parking brake adjustments after replacing shoes.

I've still not been able to fix my parking brake. The drums are new OEM. The shoes are new NAPA. I pulled one side apart and compared the old OEM to the new NAPA shoes and they look identical, holding them together I can't see any differences in size. I am unable to take up the slack in the...

What have you done to your 100 Series this week?

I finished the installation of my Dissent rear bumper and swing arm, I just have to wire the trailer connector and back up lights. I think I got one of the last aluminum bumpers (v2). Great fit and easy install. The spare was a real mess when I pulled it out from under the vehicle and required a...

    Door Lock Actuator Replacement

The originals lasted the longest. For me, the replacements about 3-5 years. From reading this thread, it appears that hot climates fare worst. We are frequently over 100 deg F here. Chris

    Door Lock Actuator Replacement

Here's a step by step guide to replacing the door lock motors that I made several years ago for a friend. Mine is a 2003 and uses the motor with collars. I don't think I do the part about removing the lock mechanism anymore, just the actuator. LC Door Lock Motor Replacement Due to my hot...

Parking brake adjustments after replacing shoes.

I recently replaced all the brakes and rotors, including the parking brake shoes on my 2003 LC. I have adjusted the parking brake according to the FSM. The adjuster is backed out 8 notches. Now when I adjust the stops at the brake, I have to screw them all the way in and there is still too much...

What have you done to your 100 Series this week?

I didn't have any significant problems. Just pay attention to the instructions because they don't follow the same path at the caliper as the stock lines. Chris

What have you done to your 100 Series this week?

Over the last couple of weeks I've replaced the front wheel bearings, front and rear brakes and rotors (all oem except parking brake shoes) and installed new Slee stainless brake lines. Today I finally installed the Dissent aluminum skid plates I picked up in December. Next time I have some free...

Transmission gets stuck in 3rd gear after mountain driving

Mine still does it once or twice a year if I'm manually downshifting for steep downhill grades. It's never gotten worse and restarting always fixes it. It's a glitch and I don't think anything is actually anything broken since it's never changed. Now at 225,000 miles. Chris

I added the MC clamps when my brand new OEM axles started leaking grease after a few months. Chris

What have you done to your 200 Series this week?

After a long wait I picked up Dissent Offroad step sliders for my 2021 HE at their shop a few weeks ago. I think they look great! I've been working on the install for the last 3 weekends which has been an ordeal solely due to my difficulty getting rivnuts installed so they wouldn't spin in the...

    200 series picture thread

My wife and I took an overnight trip with my 21 HE to the cabin at Bucks Lake which is on the edge of the Dixie Fire. The evacuation orders were recently lifted and we needed to check it out and clean some. Pretty nice on Saturday and had a nice swim in the lake but we woke this morning to heavy...

    200 series picture thread

What kind of cover do you have for it? I need to cover my 2003 LC that now sits outside since the 21 HE took its spot in the garage. Might get something for the 21 too. Just got back from our cabin and spent an hour washing and getting the pitch off it. Chris

The MUD 100 series Photos thread

Just hit another milestone driving around Lake Tahoe. Not sure how many more it will get since the daily driver duties have shifted to the 2021 HE.
