Mid November I’m heading up to the Lost Coast for a long weekend exploring and camping. Planning on driving Usal Rd. from S to N. Camp one night Usal beach, drive the Rd., spend the rest of the weekend at Needelos or Wailaki, hang out in town eating fresh fish and drive some of the nearby...
Well, it might smell from both sides even if it is the exhaust, so I'm not sure that discounts it entirely. You might try to do a test where you start the truck from cold and let it run for a while without moving to see if you get the smell then or only after driving. That could at least rule...
I mentioned it because it happened to me. The problem was not clearance, the spare had been lowered at some point and then when I cranked it back up I don;t think I tightened it enough and it was able to slide over to make contact with the pipe after a good bump somewhere. Burt a small oval...
I'd go light on the adhesive so you can pull it later if you want to. Maybe use some silicone or similar.
Be forewarned that these dash covers decrease the clearance around dash openings for the instrument panel and climate control panel, making it harder to take these things off and often...
The rust is pretty minor, it’s about exactly what you see. The frame has no big rust on it, just surface rust. The paint probably looks better in the pics than it does in person. The thing on the front of the truck is my High Lift on a custom holder.
Anyway, thanks for the input guys...
157,000 mi on the odometer and it passed smog in 2007. It's pretty clean, but the paint on the hood and roof are sun shot. No metal showing though. It's really a great truck, not much to fix on the body or interior (maybe replace the passenger window crank, it's a little hard to move), and...
Here's the photo album I put together for the sale:
'87 fj60 - a photoset on Flickr
I intend to be as honest as possible with all potential buyers. I have always come away from my vehicle purchases finding things that I know the PO knew about but didn't mention. Bad karma. I've been...
I am planning on selling my ’87 fj60 soon. :frown: Lots of reasons, the big two are it needs a rebuild and with a kid in the planning I need a vehicle I don’t have to tinker with all the time.
Anyway, I need some advice on how to price my truck. I know, Pandora’s box. My main concern...
Thanks for the replies. I finally got a a chance to open the tent up yesterday and look inside, thankfully the headliner is in tact with no apparent damage. Had the tree limb not been slowed by its own branches this thing could easily have gone through the entire tent and dented my roof!
I...
Autohome rep- changed to: Maggiolina Repairs
Random question, who’s the guy on IH8MUD who does the Autohome RTT imports on the west coast?
A tree branch fell on my Maggiolina this morning, putting a baseball sized hole through the roof and I want to get some info on how to go about doing a...
yeah I know, but I just need to pull it to inspect it for like 2 minutes and was hoping to not have to order the gaskets AND spacer and wait for them to show up, and pay shipping... just to check a hunch on the pump.
well I wouldn't call it a "deep rumble" exactly :D but it is the exhaust noise not a vibration. I know there are other things making noise in there, the tranny, the sound from the engine through the fire wall, all of my exhaust leaks ;). But I can definitely hear the muffler sound as well...
I have a Magna Flow muffler (I think) and a high flow cat on my ’87 fj60. I need to replace the pipe just past muffler because one of the frame supports broke off opening a hole in the pipe. I like the sound and feel of this setup, but on long trips it can be a little loud in the cab. So I...
the EGR valve can become stuck open. pull it off and clean it out, spray a little carb cleaner or pb blaster on the valve itself and push it in and out with a screw driver. Don't spray anything into the vacuum connection on top of the EGR valve. This usually gets me going again for another...
In continuing to track down a constant "knock" in my engine I was told that my fuel pump might be the culprit and sure enough it does seem to be knocking when I touch it while idling.
Can the pump be removed without draining the oil?
Also, if I pull the pump for inspection do I need to...
Well Im back home after one of the most "bug" filled rides in my fj60 ever. Worst was the smog pump failure in Vacaville (thank you MUDRAK for getting me going again). Most annoying was the wipers deciding to stop working... in some very heavy, week long OR rain. But as for this post the...
