Hey All -
Been awhile since I was over on' Mud.. sold my '60 a few years ago.
Drove my rig back East from Washington State for the holidays, going to be around for another week or so.
Any places worth exploring? Anyone else interested in getting out? Not really looking for anything...

Bought these tires new last year. Ran them for about 2 months - then decided to go to 35s. They literally have approx. 500 ROAD miles on them.
Wheels - Ordered these along with the tires. 6 lug...
Yep - still not running (well)....
Here's where I'm at right now - she'll start idle very ragged - almost lawnmower - tractorish sound.
Zero throttle response....after 10-15 minutes idle stabilizes - although it's still rough vacuum.
Will only run with choke fully closed. If I manually...
Ran a compression test today.
(Some) good news. She still isn't running. Plugs were pretty fouled - they are 3 years old after all.
^FRONT^
1.) 170 PSI
2.) 160
3.) 160
4.) 160
5.) 160
6.) 160
Not to shabby for 180,000 k, eh?
WTF - almost about ready to break down and bring her to the shop.
Alright - here's what happend. She's been running fine. Steady Vac. (20+ in Hg.) at idle (700RPM). Was running fine about a month ago. Went to start her the next morning - would not hold an idle at all.
She'll run fine above...
Okay...
Hate to even think about it - but - need a truly reliable vehicle for work. Not that this truck hasn't been good to me, it has. I can't justify having two vehicles at 19.
She's been my DD since I got her.
What I've done -
ENGINE
Weber 38/Desmog
Tri-Mil Headers...
Weber 38 - Desmog.
Truck was running perfectly the night before. Now, she'll start fine, and idle normally after 4 or so pumps on the gas pedal to fill bowl. As soon as the fuel in bowl is gone, idle becomes erratic, she WILL NOT idle below 1000RPM.
While she's doing the erratic horrible...
Yep.
I've had a slight leak from one of the cups on my wheel cylinder on the left rear drum. Decided to attack the issue last weekend. Got as far as getting the rear on jack stands and putting my stainless MEDICAL GRADE vise-grips (they were a birthday gift, odd right?) on the rubber axle/frame...
WTF.....
Went to start the cruiser up this afternoon after she sat overnight. Was running perfect the night before (smooth idle around 650 RPM).
Now she won't idle at all - below 1000RPM she stalls right out. WTF? I've got a Weber 38 w/original ignition system.
Here's what I've...
Don't worry - it's not another which oil to use thread.
I change my oil every three months (it works for me).
Around the last OC, I put on 35s. My ODO reading at that time was 174434.
Now, the ODO is 177500....so....has it really been 3,000 miles, or should I use the rough formula...
Yep - went to change tranny and transfer fluids the other day - to my surprise gear oil came pouring out of the tranny...culprit - blown seal.
So - I engineered my own temporary fix....
Total cost - $27.00
Not quite as basic as the hose clamp and pipe barb method - but not as elaborate of...
Just put on 35s - I'm looking for some 4.88s to throw in..
Anyone have a set? Are the Sierra's that Kurt sells good?
I'm new to this kind of drivetrain work, any help is much appreciated.
Thanks
jake
Anyone know this rack? PO said it came with his truck when he bought it from a guy in Bristol, RI.
Its sweet - really well thought out design, mandrel bent tubing and plasma cut gussets - but the welds are absolute bird turds.
I'm thinking it's a homebrew design????
