fixed mine, so I’m going to update with my findings.
There are a couple of things that went wrong with my passenger side mirror. It wasn’t the switch.
When you pull the mirror apart there is an adjuster mechanism/plate thing. There are two motors and worm drives and gears in each adjuster plate...
Any more updates on this seemingly common issue?
I’ve put some LX470 heated folding mirrors on my HDJ105, and after pushing the passenger mirror around a bit (left hand side), it now only adjusts left and right but not up and down. Drivers side works in all directions.
Long shot from Australia, if you would post here.
Chasing a few things:
audio controls from steering wheel (two sets of switches either side of airbag)
rear quarter power window/vent button—left or right
mirror control switch that has the mirror fold button included
if I could get much of...
Thanks, yeah I thought I would be too late. I’ve only just got access to my account again after being locked out for ages—I’ll keep a closer eye on these part put pages for the next LX470 being parted out.
And yeah, for the audio controls I am after the two sets of switches that go either side...

Hi nogo, I've just bought new tyres but didn't notice any evidence of negative camber wear or toe in wear on the old ones- technically as the axle housing seems to be bent bent back it would cause 'toe-out' would it not? Could the toe-in-out adjustment have made up for it enough to hide it?
I...
Thanks for the reply 65swb45.
I hadn't thought of leaving the axleshafts out. I've already put most of the troublesome left side back together and was planning on putting the right side together today. If it feels suspicious then I will go back in and pull the shafts out. That of course means...
This is an Australian 1982 BJ42 with stock front discs. I have had it 10 years.
I had a front left (passenger side) disc wear badly on the back from a sticking caliper and not catching it in time, and an overdue knuckle rebuild, so launched into a full front end rebuild. New discs both sides...
Forgive the title, I couldn't resist, I am actually 40 right now, but after 10 years it is coming time to move on my '82 BJ42 and I don't know where to go next.
In regards to what is available, I am in Australia.
I love my BJ42, most days, it is my daily driver, and other days I am kinda sick...
Hey Matt, I just logged on (haven't in years) to try to find your email address- great to see you got your 40 back! My 42 is still skulking around marking its territory. Where did you buy? We bought in Nth Warrandyte. Will have to have a beer sometime. Wanted to ask you about cooling components...
Cheers mate,
she's a nice old girl, and if you keep saying nice things about her like that, she might just let you take her for a spin:cool:
Speak to you soon.
Well,
best of luck with it Gary.
I've only had the pleasure of sitting in the passenger seat, but during such I was grinning and giggling like a school girl:princess::grinpimp:
One impressive machine.
My 42 is positively tractor like in comparison.
I hope you have a long and happy ownership.
Hans.
Gday Matt,
hey, it's been too long.
Your 40 is gone!
wow.
Best of luck to the new owner. Gary, you must be stoked!
I can't wait to see what you do with your company car.
Nice beemer,
it's been a while since we last spoke, I've still got my 42, but in that time.... I got myself a beemer...
same thing happened to me and my split transfer case just after I bought my BJ.
Noise, bad noise, discovery of no oil (well ok, there was maybe half a cup of burnt black stuff left), and then a total rebuild.
Mine was pretty stuffed inside. Ended up finding a donor case (later model with...
Great to hear an update John,
bummer about the H55, welcome back to the world of 4speeds!:D
At least the bellhousing was still useful!
Hope it goes smoother and quicker from here,
best of luck,
Hans.
700CCA for my battery- turns the 3B over just fine.
Regarding starting, I had a lot of gremlin chasing at the begining, rebuilt starter, new battery etc, final issue of mine that solved the sluggish starting was replacing a bad earth from the block to the chassis.
Made a huge difference.
Worth...
Damn damn damn:frown:
I too would have to be very careful about rising and unknown costs as well. I don't mean to get all pessimistic on you, but sounds like this engine has had a very hard life, and while there is obviously some actual cause as to your current start/non-start problems- who...
Sheesh!
Glad you got to drive it- sorry for the ongoing saga:crybaby:
Struggling up a hill in second just aint right.
I can't help with any of your queries, sorry, but here's a bump;)
Hope you get his figured out.
