I used a U-Haul dolly to pull my LWB from Detroit to N. Michigan on I-75 (about 250 miles) with no problems. I took off the driveshaft and used a 2.8 litreJeep Cherokee as the tow vehicle with no problems.
Saw these last night, thought some of you history buffs might be interested:

I'm thinking about getting an Orion transfer case. Has anyone set one up with a PTO? Given that the dimensions of the Orion are the same as the stock, seems like a PTO would work just the same, no?
Thanks!
I like the sound of that! I was going to get another person to whack on the end while I held the ring with screwdrivers, but this sounds like it might be easier.
Thanks everyone!
Is there a trick to getting the little snap-ring on the end of the front axle shafts to stay in its groove while installing it in the Birfield? I spent an hour last night yelling at the thing while trying to get it in.
Thanks!
Cool truck, might make a good bed for a 45. Has anyone tried and Stout bed before?

Put this 45 aside to do as a resto at some future date and get a 40 to take the top off of, if you've got the money to splash out that is. If not, sell it to someone who will keep it intact and then buy a 40. You have a sacred duty to preserve this piece of Land Cruiser heritage that you have...
That's sweet! Looks like it's pretty clean, I like the exterior color. That's a burly winch up front too. I'm guessing that's a modified intake, what's the story there? Seems like it would make a good June bug trap.
Like everyone else has said, budget AT LEAST three times the amount of time you think it will take. Ditto for costs. The mechanical aspects of a restoration are not where the difficulty lies, it is in the commitment of time and $$$. Searching for parts, compiling lists, comparing...
Sweet, thanks Dan! I see what you mean, the 40 series kit I'm waiting for doesn't have the round mounts so I'll have to deal with that when the time comes. For the time being I'm just going to use the ten of similar size for the bed and use the two big square ones for paperweights until I find...
Does Old Man Emu make body mounts? Or did you mean OEM? If I had a choice I'd usually go with Toyota's, but in this case I went with SOR's polyurethane kit.
Like you said, the 45's look just like a 40's, but are they the same dimensions?
I'm having some trouble on replacement body mounts for my '78 pickup. I tried getting the correct mounts special ordered through SOR but, after much searching, they were unable to find them anywhere and Toyota Japan says that they have been discontinued. The mounts for the earlier (US market)...
How did you get the PTO so clean and pretty? Did you have the plugs and what-not cadmium plated? Is that the natural aluminum finish on the case or did use a paint/coating of some sort? It looks really good! So does the rest of the project. Have you already posted pics of the body?
BTW...
