With your discharged second battery, the relay is responding to system voltage as the relay connects and disconnects the discharged battery into the system. When closed, the discharged battery causes voltage to sag below the low voltage disconnect threshold, relay opens, voltage pops up above...
Believe he stores several cars at a facility around the corner from my office here in San Diego called Veloce Motors. Warehouse set up for car storage. The salt air will destroy any vehicle...Land Cruiser or otherwise. Couple that with long stints of non-operation and of course you're going...
The LC won't fit 2 adults, 2 kids, dog, luggage for humans, dog's stuff, for a 1 week road trip. You'll need stuff on the roof, an external hitch-mounted carrier, or a small trailer to carry all the stuff. I have one kid, and one 85 pound dog, and they take up the back seat. and after you pack...
Depends what failed. If the brushes failed, nothing you could do about that. If the solenoid failed, I imagine it would be possible to remote the solenoid so you could easily replace it or manually trigger it, but would it be worth it to go through that exercise?
The change to a smaller pulley is in the "how to make a high output alternator 101" handbook. In order to drive higher amperage, the stator configuration gets changed from Wye to Delta which creates about 20% greater amperage, at the expense of low rpm voltage. So in order to compensate for...
PCS can kick in when maneuvering around vehicles at speed....sent my dog flying once when I was in control but the system disagreed and slammed on the brakes.
Just have to say the ad-hoc loaner steering wheel is fantastic. The 100-series forum has the same and I sent my steering wheel to Craft Customs in Texas. Turned out nicely, but it's not holding up as long as OEM, which doesn't completely surprise me. Nonetheless, it's good to reset the clock...
Yes, the grill has been off and they [supposedly] recalibrated the system for a pre-collision radar fault, and you would assume the dealer would recalibrate EVERTHING relating to radar, but I suspect they didn't do that and the radar cruise is in need of calibration as well. It's a pretty new...
Wondering if my 2021 adaptive cruise needs recalibration. When driving on a multilane highway, cruise set at 75, as I approach a car in an adjacent lane going (for example) 70mph, my truck seems to erroneously sense the adjacent car, and slow me down, but then seems to realize that the slower...
Do they still rent these? I used one for a 2 week camping/road trip about 10 years ago but I haven't seen them for a while. Nice lightweight design and no problem towing at speed.
I wouldn't go through the hassle of changing the brush pack, without also changing the bearings...they too have 135k of wear. Any alternator shop will sell the regulator and rectifier as individual components, but if you're changing the regulator, rectifier, brushes, and bearings...all that's...
I'd go bigger than 8. I used 8 on my 100 and the voltage drop at distance caused the fridge to go into it's low voltage error mode prematurely. Changed it to #4 and haven't had any drama.
