Help! I have a no start issue.

Update. Since I was getting 10.5 volts at the circuit open relay, I went a head and pulled the FPR and jumped position #5 to position #2 and it started. Hmm. Triple check the fuel pump relay and it tests OK per the manual. Put my spare fuel pump relay on and it starts and runs fine.

Help! I have a no start issue.

My problem is back. Just like in original post I started getting P0170 code. Then it stalled at highway speed, recovered, and now will not start (cranks fine). Like before, running battery power to terminal 2 or 3 on the fuel pump relay (FPR) allows me to start the vehicle so I know its...

Help! I have a no start issue.

Its running! First thank you to Texasknowhow and Blkprj80 for being willing to assist. I am not 100% sure of what I did to fix it so that makes me nervous, but I suspect it was the fuel pump relay (FPR) or the FPR socket. I tested the relay per the FSM and it tested OK so I then focused...

Help! I have a no start issue.

I am hoping to just double check my logic here and possibly get some new ideas. (my auto electrical skills are not the best) Given that running a 12 volt lead and ground from the battery to the fuel pump connection made the pump spin, I tried to move one step upstream of the pump. I remove the...

Help! I have a no start issue.

Another piece of information that may be useful. If I run battery power directly to fuel pump the rig will start and run. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Help! I have a no start issue.

Thanks for the assistance! Still no luck. Stepping through the FSM and down to checking the ECM. On IN-31 of the FSM it states to check the ECM ground circuit. I do not have the electrical wiring diagram book to determine which pin on the back of the ECU is ground. Any suggestions...

Help! I have a no start issue.

Thanks for the suggestions and diagram. I did check the fuel pump relay. It definitely 'clicks' when I removed it and applied 12 volts. Continuity meter also confirms it is doing something. I can also hear the EFI main relay and the fuel pump relay click when the key is turned. This is...

Help! I have a no start issue.

"Fuel filter getting stopped up?" I replaced it 6-8 months ago when I did the head-gasket. "Did you pull the fuel line on the front of the rail to see if fuel is flowing." I have not. Will try tomorrow when I get a chance to work on it again. Thanks for the suggestions!

Help! I have a no start issue.

Hello, I am hoping to get some advice on a no start issue for my 1995 cruiser. The first symptoms I can describe is that the vehicle would lose power when accelerating. The best I can portray is that under light load there were no issues. When accelerating up a long steep hill (say 1/2-3/4...

Front axle housing - How to determine if it is bent?

Thanks for the replies. This project has been on the back burner for quite a while and thus this thread has been out of sight out of mind so to speak. One of the steering stops looks a bit bent toward the caliper. The pinion turns pretty easily. So I guess I may just modify my non-locker...

Front axle housing - How to determine if it is bent?

Background - Last spring I bought a set of locking axles from a wrecked cruiser. I did not pull the axles from the vehicle, but rather the pair were delivered to me. I believe it was hit on the passenger front as the control arm on that side was bent/bowed pretty good toward the driver side. The...

    Rear bearing repack help

Two quick questions during the rear hub repack on 1995. 1) Does the inner seal go on with the rubber lip out (i.e. toward the brake backing plate) or in (i.e. toward the bearing)? I think it was out when dissambled but a video on bearing repack did not show this lip and I removed it a few...

1-FZFE Oil usage, how much does yours use?

After reading several threads, it seems that 1 qt per 1000 miles may be within factory specs. Mine looses about the same as yours (169,000 miles on the odometer). I say looses, because, while I suspect the valve guide seals are leaking and some oil is consumed, I know my rear main seal is a...

    OME stock height springs ?

Sorry if this is redundant. I was wondering if it is OK to replace just the rear factory springs (approx. 166,000 miles) with stock height OME springs and leave the fronts for a while. I have a swingout so the back end is a bit droopy. I will be swaping in a rear elocker axle soon and...

    Spare tire cable

If you have the factory "tool bag", you will need to assemble the 3-4 "rods with square ends). The hooked end inserts through a hole in the upper part of the bumper (right below the bottom of the rear hatch door) and engages a slotted portion of the tire lift mechanism. The handle attaches on...

Locked axle swap: How to lock for maintenance?

I am getting ready to swap factory lockable axles into my 80. I have already swappped the ECU, Switch, and rear main harness. My plan is to swap the rear first. However, before swapping in the axle, I was going to perform some clean up, repaint, and general PM (i.e., pull rear shafts to...

What is this exactly ? And how hard of a fix?

Not sure exactly what that hex thing is, but i thought the same thing. replaced the oilpump seal, crank seal and distributer o ring and no leaks appeared there any more.
