I was exactly here back in 2008. Short story, every year I put anywhere from $.5k-$2.5k in and not once (even close) have I regretted going down this path. My formula (not for everyone): buy PO/low miles engine over lockers, dial in baseline/reliability before upgrades, match your upgrade spend...
On my second set of Bridgestone dueler revo 2's. First set went 40k and would have gone for another 5k+ had I been more attentive to alignment and rotation. Never failed me in snow 1" to 2' and good on ice. I don't do much on rock -- trail to Bowman and surrounding area is about it, but have...
Security Chain Company ZT747 Super Z LT Light Truck and SUV Traction Chain - set of two chains
These are new, in the plastic wrapper, in the box chains. I tried one on in driveway and then never used and then changed tire size.
$50 firm (~$100 new) - prefer local pickup or drop off otherwise...
As long as we're talking flaps, any pictures of fronts when no flares exist? I recently removed flares and have new paint so am thinking I should put flaps back on and take off when off road. Experience here welcomed. Thanks.
I would occasionally get a check engine light on 87 with one of the knock sensor error codes. I switched to 89 years ago and the only time I ever get the check engine light is when I buy gas from questionable sources (I.e. may be 87 or worse). It's like clockwork. It might all be happy...
Been going from Bay Area CA to Sierras for 15 years with my 16' 60 pound canoe. Last four with LC, Thule bars, and Thule canoe kit (nice cam straps and bar guides). I like to fish when weather is bad so often hit high winds and have never had a problem. I do highly recommend front and back...
custyota - check out pdf.
hercules - others have pm'd to grab metal plate and front flaps -- given wholesale grab -- are you using or selling (latter being no good)?

Busy at work will look at this again on Friday or Saturday and resolve. Thanks.
white with black from brochure
Thanks for the quick post.
Interesting...so you only have black in the back...while the brochure shows black on other doors as well. Paint shop has the outside to match brochure but the inside doesn't look right.
Let's see if anyone else has the look on the...
Did a search and didn't find...
Just got back from body shop to see work-in-progress from green to oem white (045). Everything looking good except jambs and some black/white funkiness. :frown: If you have an oem white paint job can you post pics of quarter windows where it's black and then pics...
I have learned so much from MUD community and hope this helps others. In prep for paint, these parts are coming off permanently and are available free (if local and picking up) or for shipping (only if no local interest after one week). I am gone rest of the weekend so respond or PM and I will...
It took about 4 years for the train to leave the station, but my 80 build is finally starting to chug.
On another thread, I invited opinions on color. Well, you guys probably could have told me that the white my :princess: wanted would be the right color. It's where I ended up too for paint...
Thanks to all so far for the help.
Given comments, here are some more assumptions:
- planning to paint jambs and hood but not likely bay if color change
- NO oem flares, rack/ribs, or deflector
- current interior is stock brownish carpet and tan worn leather seats...at some point going to...
Years into my 80 I am finally heading toward a complete repaint. I can't remember the thread where I found this pic although want to thank the owner of this nice ride for posting it. It gave me a good starting point for playing around in photoshop. Here are a few of the colors that I am...
At least for me switching to 89 made all the problems go away. The only time the light goes on is when I am in Tahoe and stop at a tourist gas station selling 89 that's really 87 or below.
