Happy New Year to all,
My wonderful HDJ100 just drove to the arctic circle in Sweden from London and curiously on most of a 10 hour snowstorm heading back to Denmark, I could not keep up with the ice forming on the windshield. We had to stop and scrap the windshield approx. every 15min. I...

Some countries in Europe are now requiring diesel particulate filters to enter cities or Euro 4+ norms to be met. Is it possible to 'add on' a DPF and not screw up an amazing truck? Or does anyone know a work-around?
Many thanks
Hi all,
I have been hunting for what appears to be a discontinued item-- distributor cap for Jan 1980 CA FJ40 (with smog). Any suggestions where I might source greatly appreciated.
Best,
Ed
Hi,
Would anyone be able to guesstimate CO2 level for CA version of my 1980 FJ40. It is temporarily in storage so can't test. All those "wonderful" smog hoses must do something...hah
Many thanks,
Ed
Greetings,
My 1980 CA FJ40 is in Europe and a 'keeper' that will pass to the next generation(s). I am conscious of trying to start sourcing some of more difficult items to find due to the CA smog stuff. Any help/ suggestions on what items that would be good to start accumulating for the day...
Greetings,
I am hunting for the California version (it has 2 "pipes" unlike this image from SOR). Please message me if you are in touch with one or can point me to someone who might be able to help This image only shows "1 pipe" the more common version which I have circled.
Many thanks,
Ed
Good day,
My son’s 2017 UK Prato (150 series) had 3 warming lights all come on— ABS, Brake warning light and Anti-Slip (traction I assume (shows Truck and sliding).
What could trigger all 3 of these to come on at the same time and is there a way to reset if there is no fault— none obvious when...
Hi all,
I have been hunting for threads on leaf restoration and watching various videos. Is it correct the normal procedure is to clean the springs (blast or wire brush), phosphoric acid, prime and paint replace bushing and reassembe.? If there is a groove (valley) worn on spring smooth that...
Greetings,
I have been experiencing a less than "confidence inspiring' feeling when I put my original key in the igntion. I recently used the Yotamd Titanium frame (which is great!) to secure my key and cracked plastic housing (from 2005) but when I turn the 'new'key unless I am slow and...
Greetings from sunny Copenhagen
I am planning to move to Portugal in about 12-18 months and seek some help how best to import my Land Cruisers there. The FJ40 will be great fun in a warm climate.
Many thanks
Ed
Greetings,
my original 2005 key fob on HDJ100 is having some “wobble” issues. I have tried to repeatedly tighten the tiny screw but suspect over 16 years the plastic housing where the metal key inserts has worn. The key is moving in the housing and makes me nervous. About to head off for a few...
Greetings from the UK,
My beloved FJ40 is having some starting issues and ignition concern. No spark and havn't figured out if coil (looks OEM and old) toast or something else. However, I have heard how the Petronix electronic igntion swap is simple and reliable and can make drivability a lot...
Good day, My 2006 HDJ100 started with VGRS light continually on this past weekend and shortly thereafter now steering wheel is 90 degrees askew. 3 months ago I had Toyota replace the motor to adjust position of steering wheel (no idea if 3 months later this could be linked??). My turbo-diesel...
Hi guys,
My power tilt/ telescoping steering wheel adjustments has stopped going up or down. It will move inwards and outwards but the problem is the steering wheels is in the low position (hitting knees!). Any thoughts on what could cause this? I have noticed that compared 'to the old days'...
Greetings,
A delivery truck hit my parked HDJ100 and I have noticed the steel bumper has 'dropped' about 1/2 inch at point of impact (corner) when compared with non-hit corner. Does anyone happen to know if there is scope for adjusting the bumper (side to side) so I can get it level- I have...
Greetings,
Has anyone fit this security device? Looks like the most secure of its kind from a high quality producer. Want to augment steering wheel lock in London. Here is a link to the device...
Greetings from rainy London, England. It has been "politely" suggested that I add an level 2 immobilizer to my wonderful FJ40. I have a steering wheel lock but seems it might be enough....just in case. Has anyone had any experience fitting an immobilizer? Suggestions welcome. Thanks
