Many thanks-- from what I am also hearing if water enters one of the missing pop rivets it drains and there is no plug at the base of the pillar (or so I hope as well...). I am also hearing that if the gasket under the roof rails starts to leak, then the screws holding the rail can rust and...
Good day all,
I have recently had to replace my windscreen in my 100 series (2005) after driving to the arctic. One of the mouldings was ''butchered' on replacement and needs replacing (again) as the top 'rivet' holding it down has broken off and there is a small hole. Toyota claims the water...
If you don't have a lift is it possible to do a decent job with Fluid Film using their aerosol cans or forget that and find someone with compressor and lift? Not easy around London, UK.
Happy New Year to all,
My wonderful HDJ100 just drove to the arctic circle in Sweden from London and curiously on most of a 10 hour snowstorm heading back to Denmark, I could not keep up with the ice forming on the windshield. We had to stop and scrap the windshield approx. every 15min. I...
It is fantastic to see your efforts and results and learn from this. The videos are extremely helpful and especially when you describe each of the steps, what tools you are using etc. Keep up the terrific work! This is such a helpful resource....
Worse...with the advent of cameras in cities they simply "track" who/ what enters" and I suppose somewhere check vs. some database. So far striking out on finding an aftermarket approach like adding a diesel particle filter of 'ad blue' approach-- but determined to investigate at my HDJ100 is...
Greetings
Some countries in Europe are now requiring diesel particulate filters to enter cities or Euro 4+ norms to be met. Is it possible to 'add on' a DPF and not screw up an amazing truck? Or does anyone know a work-around?
Many thanks
Hi all,
I have been hunting for what appears to be a discontinued item-- distributor cap for Jan 1980 CA FJ40 (with smog). Any suggestions where I might source greatly appreciated.
Best,
Ed
Hi,
Would anyone be able to guesstimate CO2 level for CA version of my 1980 FJ40. It is temporarily in storage so can't test. All those "wonderful" smog hoses must do something...hah
Many thanks,
Ed
I have been in Europe since 1980....but trying to keep the FJ40 original as much as possible and not likely to return with FJ40 to US. Hence trying to source in advance of potential issues the hard to find (at least in Europe) the CA smog stuff-- which as you know looks like 'spaghetti...
Thanks for all your replies. Sorry if this was unclear. This is an ORIGINAL 1980 CA FJ40 (VINFJ40LV- KCJA; FJ40-317787) That I imported to Europe.
I am simply trying to 'collect' the difficult to find parts for my progeny and future family owners, knowing that in Europe this CA Smog stuff is...
Greetings,
My 1980 CA FJ40 is in Europe and a 'keeper' that will pass to the next generation(s). I am conscious of trying to start sourcing some of more difficult items to find due to the CA smog stuff. Any help/ suggestions on what items that would be good to start accumulating for the day...
Greetings,
I am hunting for the California version (it has 2 "pipes" unlike this image from SOR). Please message me if you are in touch with one or can point me to someone who might be able to help This image only shows "1 pipe" the more common version which I have circled.
Many thanks,
Ed
Good day,
My son’s 2017 UK Prato (150 series) had 3 warming lights all come on— ABS, Brake warning light and Anti-Slip (traction I assume (shows Truck and sliding).
What could trigger all 3 of these to come on at the same time and is there a way to reset if there is no fault— none obvious when...
