It's been a minute since I last updated.
I've spent a lot of time on the inside of the Cruiser. I've put sound dampening material in the entire floor, side panels (inner body panels) and front doors. I haven't had to take the rear door panels off, but it's on my list of things to do. While...
I love Moab and the surrounding area. I'm not sure when my next trip will be. I was thinking about next March, but I think it will be too cold and snowy then. Might have to come sometime in the summer.
Looks like the new charcoal canister fixed my issue. Really thankful it was a easy and inexpensive fix. Truck is running great. Love the new Kenda's and the bit of overdrive they provide.
During the Thanksgiving break, I've pulled the dash apart to install a new stereo, run new speaker...
Yes, I get whooshing. I put a brand new OEM gas cap on when I bought the Cruiser, so I would think it wouldn't be that. I am almost finished installing the new charcoal canister. I need to go buy a t-connector for the lines so I can connect them up. I am pretty sure the rubber lines off the...
I'm not sure if it's related, but there a fuel odor in the garage if the Cruiser has been sitting in it all day with the door closed. Also, the other night when I pulled away from a parking lot, my friends who were standing there said the exhaust smelled like burnt oil. Last night, I drove...
@Flatlanderfj40, I didn't know about the cat. I assumed because there was no emissions testing, it wouldn't be a big deal. The steering shaft seal looks good so that isn't the issue. I did get a new charcoal canister, but have yet to install it. I'll do that in the next couple of days to see...
I finally have it back!!! The engine was partially rebuilt using a 1978 2F block. It was resealed and the best parts from my engine and the "new" block were used. The head was machined. The steering was upgraded to Saginaw.
I've put about 300 miles on it in the last week and overall it's...
Welp, engine spun a rear main bearing. There was a fair amount of water in the oil (which was a fresh oil change) and a crack at the thermostat housing was found. My mechanic also thinks the head cracked. My mechanic is working on building me another engine. Maybe one day I'll get to drive...
I want a stick and can't afford to do the H55 at the same time. I honestly am not sure I have enough budget to do the V8. The engine issue was not expected and replacing it is going to eat up most of the budget I had left for a good while.
