no power with key in "on" position, no start or crank

2 weeks ago, we did the timing belt and water pump. Right after that, I took it in to get the starter replaced. Everything has been running fine since. Today I installed a lift, just torsion bars, diff drop, and rear springs. Drove around the block, adjusted the torsion again, drove around...

    charge circuit from alternator wire

I've almost completed my dual battery install on my 100, I am using this one here: Slee - Dual Battery System (Toyota 80 Series Land Cruiser) There is a wire from the relay that is supposed to be connected to the "alternator good circuit" but I can't figure out where that is. I see 3 wires...

OEM (or JDM) factory swing-out, non bumper-mounted tire carrier?

I don't think you can just get the brace for it... you need to replace the entire lower tailgate.

OEM (or JDM) factory swing-out, non bumper-mounted tire carrier?

I have an FZJ and installed a JDM tire carrier on about 5 yrs ago. It's still holding strong. I've slammed it more times than I can remember, backed up into trees, hung bikes off of there, wheeled it every chance I got (not so much anymore, no time) and not even any indication of wear where...

OEM Tire Carrier on US Spec FZJ80, Installed w/ pictures

I believe we had to cut out the upper inner bracket. We cut it from the inside of the truck to get it out. I might be able to get a photo of the inside where it was cut but it won't be for a few days.

OEM Tire Carrier on US Spec FZJ80, Installed w/ pictures

Wow, it's been a long time since I've looked at this post... sorry for the late reply. Dontblink, the body damages wasn't too bad... it doesn't bother me much, I've gotten worse damage from the trails. I did see busmup808 who did the same thing and cut the upper bracket to fit it without body...

OEM Tire Carrier on US Spec FZJ80, Installed w/ pictures

I removed the tail light and it just slipped right in. Bolt holes already there, took 5 minutes to do the bottom. Top was a different story. Some other guys here mentioned they cut the corner off the top brace and it slid in without body damage, wish I would have done that but oh well.

OEM Tire Carrier on US Spec FZJ80, Installed w/ pictures

Yes, what Girraffe said. I couldn't figure out how to get the bracket out of the JDM tailgate without cutting though... unless you fabbed your own?

OEM Tire Carrier on US Spec FZJ80, Installed w/ pictures

To be clear, I don't think this is worth doing unless you can source the bottom tail gate and the braces. I lucked out and was able to swap my old tail gate for the JDM one, which kept down my costs considerably. The bottom brace is easy, it fits and the original bolt holes are in the NA...

OEM Tire Carrier on US Spec FZJ80, Installed w/ pictures

Hey... haven't seen this thread for a while. Just to update everyone, it's been 2 years since I've put the carrier on and I've been on quite a few wheeling trips, lots of gravel roads, opening and closing the swing out and backing up into trees... the carrier is as solid as it ever was with no...

    Spare vs. Onboard air?

Plus, you don't want to be the guy that everyone is wondering what the heck they are going to do with you because you were out on the trails with no spare and no one else has the same size tire as you... awkward.

    Spare vs. Onboard air?

This is why you should carry a spare... no plug would have fixed this, the gash in the sidewall was about 8 inches long. The root was still rooted, we had to take a chainsaw and cut the root in order to move the vehicle to a flatter spot to change the tire. I find it hard to believe that...

    Going Wheeling

Thanks for the invite Charla... it was a very nice day to be wheeling. The big chunks of ice smashing along the bottom of the truck was un-nerving to say the least... I had to keep checking to make sure I didn't leave anything behind :)

rear locker light stays on, locker is disengaged

Alright... took the cover off and orange water started dripping out... inside was a mess, I just scraped and cleaned it and put everything back together and it works again. I didn't have to take the entire locker off, I just took the cover off (held on by 3 bolts) and took some shop towels...

rear locker light stays on, locker is disengaged

You're right Gumby... I just went for a drive and it is clearly not disengaging. I will look into cleaning the actuator and see where that gets me.

rear locker light stays on, locker is disengaged

So I was out wheeling on the weekend and engaged my rear locker to pull a buddy out... I could not disengage the rear after this but wheeled the rest of the day with the locker on, engaged the front a couple of times and it came on with no problem... for a good 97% of the day, the switch was in...

    3"-4" lift with 35-37" tires?

LanceCruiser - Do you have a 37 spare on your carrier? If so, how do you find the fit? Does it hit the bottom bumper at all?

OEM Tire Carrier on US Spec FZJ80, Installed w/ pictures

I tried finding an exploded parts diagram for the tailgate of a JDM 80 but had no luck... that would show you exactly what was back there. Maybe someone on mud has that info?
