Same as the others here, I put mine high on the firewall and used a breather filter on the end of the lines. I used fuel line to avoid any trouble with fluids damaging the lines. I hooked the lines from the T-case and difs together with t fittings so I only have one filter against the firewall...
And the winner is...
Firstly, Thanks for the advice.
Finally came to the realization that there was no fuel in the carb reservoir due to a stuck needle valve (or maybe a stuck float keeping it closed). All good now.
87 FJ60, 2f Motor, OEM Dizzy & carb. I suppose those are the facts that need to be stated.
Was running strong offroad, no problems, no stutters, starts and stops, off & on all day. Purring like a kitten (well, a kitten with headers and a flowmaster). Parked for a couple of days and now Arby...

Nothing but good experiences here. I've ordered from him (James?) several times with great satisfaction. I received an incorrect part once but he took care of it super fast and had the right part to me in a day or two. My .02
If you have extra cash on hand.... you could invest in a Long Ranger 42 gallon tank. Of course then you will need to relocate the spare tire (so add on a new rear bumper with a swing away tire carrier as well).
Looking good, thanks for posting up the pics! I'll be boxing the inside of my frame in the next couple of months (fingers crossed I don't find more than I bargained for). Crossmember has already been replaced and my outer frame looks solid for the most part.
If you are airing down those tires on stock rims, I wouldn't go wider than 9.5 or you risk popping the bead off when deflated.. If you are going to a wider tire you'll need wider rims to match.
I run 33 x 10.5 on an eight inch wide rim.
I used part number GSNI5200 in the 90 pound rating, from SPDhardware.com. They have other options but, these are black (5200 is the right size the letters change depending on the style). I cut the old ball out of the original strut but SPD may sell those too. Much better, springs right open now.
I put the shoulder belts out of an 62 in my 60. A little cutting, a little fabbing, a couple of nut-certs... I'm happy to have them there.
If they had been making the SOR shoulder belts (that TRADARCHER mentioned in his post) then, I would have gone that direction. Much easier install if you...
Let's keep it positive, at least it shouldn't have alot of rust!
On the visual test, I did pass with headers last time around.. I do think it depends a little on the testing facilities.
Everything CruiserDrew said.. If it hasn't been desmogged, I think that all the US models came in the same.
Passing the test itself is the real problem. Took me several attempts to get mine through the first time and several more after making changes in my exhaust sytem.
I haven't seen this exact setup but, a couple of brake locking systems similar to this. Turn the key, pump the brakes.. locked... turn the key again .. unlocked.
Positive reveiws from the owners have me waiting to do this on mine as well. Seems much more secure than any electronic disabling...
I have the two peice MAF headers, 2.5" pipe with a hi-flow cat & (I think) a Flow Master.. Definite improvement and I like the rumble but, I can't tell you where the most benefit in power came from since I did it all at once. More power but no noticable MPG gains.
I can tell you horror...
This was listed on ebay awhile back and I grabbed the photo.. nice looking ride.
OME Heavy suspension SUA with a MAF Shackle Reversal kit & 33"x9.5" BFG's
I hand sanded mine and spray canned the grill with a two-tone look, using semi gloss black and a charcoal metal flake where the chrome generally is.. Looks good but chips too easily. I touch it up when it starts to bother me.
