Photos and pricing at Craigslist: 1969 Toyota FJ40 - cars & trucks - by owner - vehicle automotive sale - https://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/cto/d/palo-alto-1969-toyota-fj40/7551563358.html
Rough interior, cable-actuated winch, good electrics. Reliable working truck in arguably the best color of...
OK, I'm glad I asked! Grounds should all be intact, but I will check when I'm in there. (Is that the price from the dealer? I wonder how much my dealer will bump it, sigh.)
My 7/69 FJ40 has the original F, and with it the original starter "issues" - it randomly will just "click" but not engage. It will always engage eventually - or at least, has always done so far - but I'd like a better answer.
I have had the starter out and rebuilt it, polished the contacts, all...
If you look further up in the thread (back a page, now) you'll find the URL for Wagner; order direct from them by emailing the contact us address.
The mechanical regulator can be adjusted, but I have always found the process to be very fiddly. I think 14.5 at the battery is a touch high, but...
I finally installed the W095-03 in my 7/69 this morning. The existing harness connectors fit perfectly. No surprises, no drama, and best of all, no more overcharging! The highest reading I saw on the voltmeter was 14.0, 13.5 is more typical ... way better than the swings up to 15.3 or more that...
I sent a note to Wagner, asking for details about the W095-04, thinking that I would be able to mount it up where my mechanical unit is and change out the connector.
The president (!) sent me a reply, and informed me that the photo of the W095-03 is wrong - they are now shipping a solid-state...
It's not one of the ones in http://www.wagneralt.com/catalog/books/W2008-09.pdf, on page 23/46? There are a couple there with 6-wire rectangular connectors.
OK ... my local suppliers are all failing me. Can someone here tell me where I might acquire one of the Transpo IN554 regulators or the Wagner equivalent? My local starter shop, which has always been good at this before, has come up dry - and the NAPA stores around me have gotten stupid and...
After many months of scratching my head about it, I finally have the lights rewired. Why is that in the bumper thread? Because half the battle was adding the auxiliaries ... which go with the bumper. Very old school - driving beam on the driver's side, fog beam on the passenger side!
Today was...
Could someone with a '73-'76 or so - with the 3-terminal connector that suits the IN554 regulator - decode which terminal is which lead? I'm quite tempted to convert my 7/69 with spade lugs and maybe one of the three-terminal housings from http://www.vintageconnections.com ...
Thanks coolerman. The W095-04 looks just like the Transpo IN554. Given the photos, I'd say that they're all solid state *except* for the W095-03 that fits your truck (and mine), which is likely mechanical.
OK, I'm on the hunt again. My alternator is sometimes putting out over 15V, and I have several things in the truck that are unhappy about it. I pulled the mechanical regulator and it *seems* to be putting out about 13.8V, in my simple test: I hooked up a variable PS to the IG and Gnd and...
I called a bunch of people looking for a rebuild kit and came up empty, so I bought a Kyosan pump from JTO. Worked great. I finally took my old pump apart and found a big crack in the diaphragm - everything else was in great shape. It would sure be nice if someone was selling rebuild kits ...
For what it's worth - I just installed the Kyosan pump that JT Outfitters is (was?) selling for $49. The only thing wrong is that their website says there's not a gasket included ... and there were two in the box! I had to swap fittings because mine have been modified to use rubber hose with...
