Torque and HP at what RPM for a 2f

I am having trouble finding this information. I believe that peak torque for a 2f is 200 at 2000 rpm. The HP is 135, but at what RPM? Also what is engine redline, I have heard 3000, 3500, and 4000. Anybody have a solid answer for this?

    Mystery goo in thermostat housing

So I am finally able to start working on my 40 again and one of the first things I needed to do was replace the head gasket as I had a brain fart and installed it, the pulled the head, then replaced the head without ever replacing the gasket. :D Anyway in the process of putting in the new...

Substitute for the gas tank charcoal canister?

My '71 didn't have the gas tank charcoal canister to filter out the fumes from the cabin. Has anybody come up with a better/cheaper alternative? Does anybody have a diagram of how this is supposed to be hooked up?

Competition Engineering C2030 - Competition Engineering Floating Housing Mounts - Overview - SummitRacing.com I saw this in the early morning today on the Gearz show. Ignition Advance Curve?

As some of you know I am tuning my MS2/Extra computer to run with my 2F. I need to program the computer with an advance that is somewhat accurate. I know that it is supposed to be at 7 degrees at 650 RPM. After that I have no clue where to go. Anybody know what that curve should look like...

    Hp and torque @ RPM

The search engine not co-operating. I do have the engine running pretty good right now but it is using a generic VE table that goes all the way up to 8000 RPM. I am never going to go that high in RPM so I want to adjust it down so that I get better resolution. It's just to get things in the...

    Knock from second main

Well now that I have the engine running I have to ask because it has been a long time since I have heard a fresh built 2f. I definitely hear a knock towards the front of the engine and using a broomstick it is located on the 2nd main. It's not coming from the tappets, they are actually quite...

Just curious... Why no Pontiac powered 40's?

I have never heard of anybody powering a 40 with a Pontiac engine. They are fairly small, even the 455, still are more advanced than a lot of V8 engines out there today, and are known as low reving stump pullers. Seems like a win win to me? 455 Pontiac 425HP Crate Engine Video

priming oil pump on fresh rebuild of a 1979 2f, no oil to head, lots of oil preassure

Everything is back together but I have a feeling that I will be pulling things apart yet again... first engine build so I am learning as I go. I went and primed the pump and I am getting plenty of oil pressure, 60+ psi and the drill is actually laboring to turn the pump... at one point after an...

    valve adjustment oddity wrong cam?

So I am finishing up and doing the valve adjustment 1,2,3,5,7...wtf...,9...wtf. I have it in tdc according to the line on the flywheel, but the pushrods on 7 and 9 are up. The cam shaft is in correctly as I did line up the two dots on the timing gears... I don't know what could be the issue...

    Alternator pulley/belt alignment.

So I have had to create an alternator mounting bracket for my 2f and I thought I could go with the old calculated eyeball, but I just don't feel comfortable with that right now. I am a bit stumped as to how to do the pulley alignment for it without having to go out and spend an obscene amount...

Interesting 40 story from a Toyota tech about THE major F weekness.

A few weeks ago I stopped by my local Toyota dealer to pick up some parts and I started to talk with one of the older techs there about what I was doing. He said to be careful about how much RPM I try to get out of that motor. He had a customer back in the late 70's early 80's that kept...

Real time help crank to water pump pulley alignment

So here is an interesting problem. I put my crank pulley back on and it lines up just fine with the alt pulley. The water pump pulley is a whole different deal. It sits back a smidge to far. I put 1 washer per bolt back there to try to shim it up but it still is off. Not a great deal mind you...

M9 x 1.25 bolt souce needed for crank pulley/harmonic balancer

If you take a look at my build thread you will see that I pulled apart my crank pulley/harmonic balancer to clean it up and to plan to replace the v pulley at some point with a serpentine one. To do this I had to cut out the rivets. Currently I am using M8 x 1.25 bolts to replace the rivets...

    Real time help flywheel bolts

So the flywheel bolts aren't exactly going in easy and I chased all the threads with a tap except for one. This one the bolt will go into about 1/4 of the way and then I need to break out the wrench to get I the rest of the way in. The bolt comes out fine not mangled at all. I tried to chase it...

Red or Green Loctite vs lock washer on crank pulley nut.

So in an effort to keep with the minimal clean aesthetics I am going for on my engine, I was wondering if I can skip using the fold up lock washer on the crank pulley nut and use either Red of Green Loctite. In all honesty it has less to do with aesthetics and more due to the fact that I...

Wanted  GM TBI Air Cleaner Spacer.

I know this is a long shot, they are a dime a dozen in a junk yard, and I have one... somewhere in my mess, but I really don't want to waste the little time I have either finding this or driving to a junkyard to get one. So I figured I would give this a shot. I am looking for a GM TBI Air...
