BJ REPLACEMENT GLOW PLUG CONTROLLER COIL.

I don't have the truck anymore (or any like it) and I don't remember how to remove it.....there must be something on the front or back that spins off? (man that sounded stupid, but maybe it will help!)

    Bumper Weights BJ74

So here's what I found. weight's below and a Center of Gravity measurement. for the COG measurement I just picked a reference point which was the top mounting hole on the frame for the bumper. Factory PTO winch and bumper = 185lb (5") PTO shafts and blocks = 15lb (-30") PTO box = 15lb (-60")...

    Bumper Weights BJ74

Meant to post up a little comparison of weights on a couple of bumpers on a BJ74. I had always heard that the PTO and it's "porch" were really heavy and were the reason the front of the bj74 (mine anyways) had that "stinkbug" look.... lower in the front. It's pretty obvious the weight up...

    Parts-wanted sticky..

I always thought the cable controls were an option that could be added on to any of those bellviews. I also have one in the yard that worked 15 years ago when I parked it. I desperately want it to go to a home that is not the dump

BJ REPLACEMENT GLOW PLUG CONTROLLER COIL.

No. I just made the coils with the right diameter and the right number of them. Then cut the two ends at the right length to make the two loops to go around the bolts/posts. But I guess the science is.... it has to be the right length and thickness to provide the right resistance

BJ REPLACEMENT GLOW PLUG CONTROLLER COIL.

Well. I did some experimenting with the wire element of the controller. Here the controller is, all dissected. You can see the two pieces of coil that of course, should be one piece. I figured I would just measure it up, and replicate it. Here you can see, just over 1mm thickness. Look...

BJ REPLACEMENT GLOW PLUG CONTROLLER COIL.

I wonder if you guys know of anyone experimenting with the same thing for a 24V controller. I may just try the same as you fjfjfj.... maybe use the same wire size and work on number of coils. Does the wire need to be a special type of steel? Any idea? Thanks

    24V glow controller

Hey guys. I'm looking for a 24V glow controller for my 81 BJ42. Anyone happen to have one laying around?? I remember 10 years ago I had 4 huge bins of 24V diesel parts, before I had a diesel.... and I gave it all away.... I bet there were 2 of these controllers in there!! Parts-wanted...

Anyone have a 24V dash glow bulb kicking around

    New aquisition - bj42

Turned out the short was in the glow system. Took the glow relay apart. Worked perfectly (I did clean the connections, but voltmeter showed voltage flowing through perfectly). Both the ignition switch position and the dash switch operated the relay the way they should BUT THEN... when...

    New aquisition - bj42

Man, kids slow everything down. Well.... after an ELECTRICAL failure on my truck, I finally dragged it into the shop to figure out what was going on. I took advantage of this work to clean out some of the useless wiring that had accumulated in the truck over the PO's 25 years of.... hackery.

    Auto tranny PTO operation

I know this question was posed a LONG time ago, but I'm wondering the same thing. I'm considering running a PTO winch on a FJ62 drivetrain and am imagining the same problems you described above. Can anyone talk to this? Is the solution to keep the transfer engaged so that when you put the...

    New aquisition - bj42

Picked the tires up locally, a guy in Calgary had them on his Toyota. They aren't the best in mud but they're ok. I love the way they look an on dirt, gravel, pavement they are fantastic. And I'm hoping to do more highway driving (between trails) in the truck. I had the truck up to 95kph...

Awl_TEQ, the box is yours.... But I'm still running it, just until I get off my a$$ and start building the next truck.... Mere months away I'm sure

I agree Tyler. Although a 24v 8274 is in the plan as it seems like the best of everything,... Super reliable and fast enough

    New aquisition - bj42

Ha Cruiserman, I'd say both batteries were fully charged. Truck was running all day with no lights or winch use. And my electrical system is solid with no trickle down. I think the motor would have lasted fine without being spooled at full unloaded speed

Here they are all mounted up. Rears.... clear enough I guess. May have to cut the lips off the front of the fenders and I don't need to cut the bent ends of the bumper, but I may. We got almost a foot of snow last week. I couldn't pass up the chance to go running in it. (Michelins = crap...

Picked up a set of Michelin XL 9R16s. Thought I'd try them out on the BJ42. So..... time to make some room. Here they are cut. I am not a fan of the square corners, but it was easier this way for now.... and this body is eminently getting scrapped. Here is the comparison. 33x10.5-15...

    New aquisition - bj42

So I've been using my 12V 8274 hooked up to 24V for a couple years now. It worked awesome. Super fast. Strong. Just had to pay attention. About a year ago though, I had two trucks out and had to pull the bj70 up a long slippery hill with my 42. When I had crested the hill in the bj70, we...
