Late to the game, I know, but with registration closed could I still join in the festivities? My work schedule has just changed, still need to clear the schedule at home I would likely bring my two young boys, ages 3 and 5. Any other young kids in the bunch?
Rear axle is apart. Only minor "discovery" moments. It turns out the diff will not come out without removing a coupler on the e-locker shaft. There are two wire connectors that must be disconnected from the e-locker and the third is no wire at all, but a breather tube. That one had me stumped...
Tearing down axles this week for maintenance and regear to 5.29's finally! Steak, beer and cigars for anyone who wants to help!
driveway is in dumfries, near montclair and 95.
You guys rock. Stump, I live in Dumfries off of 234. That might be the easiest option.
BK, for the load distribution I would need a special ball/insert right? If the trailer works out in woodbridge that would be easier, but if not I am happy to come out your way.
cool, I should have also said that I am setup for a bumper pull trailer only right now, no gooseneck or 5th wheel. Tow vehicle is 2500HD gas GMC truck. Anyone with experience towing an 80 have an opinion on preferred trailer length?
I haven't been on Mud in quite a while. In fact, I haven't been wheeling in a while either - that is gonna change this year! I am planning a trip to Moab in the fall with some friends and I want to trailer the LX450 out there. Does anyone have a 10K trailer for loan/rent? I am checking...
resurrecting a slightly older post here...
any more thoughts on this topic? I too am looking for a pickup that is capable of towing an 80, But also drive around town with the kids in the back.
Anyone with any experience towing an 80 with a Tundra crew max?
Silverado Vortec max?
What are you all using to tow your 80's to and from the trails. I am on the verge of my daily driver becoming a dedicated trail truck. But that means a tow vehicle that is up to the task. Would a half ton truck be ok? 2013 Chevrolet 1500 is rated to tow 9500lbs. My guess is that truck would tow...
Look at that blue sky! Southern wheelin in the sunshine sure beats wet clay! I am headed out at o'dark thirty. Post up where you guys set camp so we all know where you find you.
Thanks for your thoughts. But, if you read the first post, I think it's pretty clear.
A couple of offroad specialty shops have had a hard time recommending rims that would fit this truck. So, why not ask the experts, you all, and see what has worked.
I would advise that you make every effort to get all the bolts on good. I have the metal tech sliders welded to the frame and have used them a bunch. They have some flex and these are burned in pretty good. It would be a shame for your slider to cause body damage when they are there to prevent...
On the front axle, the tires do not clear with the spacers. So my point is, I am wondering if anyone has found a sweet spot for back spacing with 37's that works for front and rear without fender trimming while minimizing rubbing?
I need some rim advice. Looking to replace some old steel rims that I am not in love with. I am running 17x9 rims with 5" backspacing for 37x12.5 tires. The trouble is, I clear the tires in the front without spacers, but in the back i have to use spacers to keep the tires from rubbing the inner...
Just registered! Hopefully I can get this new cb installed in time. Anyone have a meter to tune this thing? I have never tuned one before, but it doesn't look too hard.
