99 LX470. I recently purchased this LX470, the tilt tele is really dead, not a peep from any of the motors. Was informed that there's a module that controls this and replacement might bring it back to life. Well I did, didn't fix it but key fob doesn't work anymore. Had to dc the connectors on...
That 45 refurb that I've not posted photos on for forever isn't dead yet. The body should "done" by now and will see it in a few weeks (it's in Peru). Frame was repaired a long time ago, mostly by me because I didn't trust anyone to do it by themselves... but I'd like to put new frame/body/bed...
Yeah, believe it or not I did know that a 3F was not "correct" for this truck, but thanks for pointing out that that other rusty old thing is an F not a 2F.
Well, in the states that would be true... but here the sad reality is that the labor rates are what are making this whole thing possible. I'm getting my frame totally re-worked my frame, costing me about 350$ total. Anyway... damn, leaning towards leaving it stock... I have the stock wheels...
Thanks Chupacabra, yes of course i do want to maximise my return.... But I keep wondering if as a driver quality resto, if i leave it stock it might it actually End up being worth less ? Cuz if its reallly not going to make that much of à différence heck i,ll save the nicer drivetrain for...
Im currently restoring a 71 45 , its not currently in the US but am seriously considering shipping it up för sale there. My question is, in a given condition... Såy an 8 restoration on a scale of 1-10, would the truck be worth considerably more with the 2f and the original 3sp or with a låter...
Beats me.... , so any thoughts on the non-correct tub? And... would it be worth more in the states with the original 2F and 3sp or 3F and a 5sp? Stock or "improved"?
Oh yeah... I looked at the title today and it's a 71, so ya'll were right. So... question. How much trouble should I go to to use the stock tub rather than the (better) 80 FJ40 tub with just the back of the 45 cab grafted on? Honestly I'm just going to use the original tag on whatever tub, but...
Been a while since I've posted anything on this project, but progress is being made, though slowly and wow that frame has turned out to be a lot of work. Good news is it's nearly done and going to be putting the frame haves together soon and getting on to more interesting tasks. We ended up...
Well the export idea has crossed my mind, ill see how it turns out, hey maybe someone on the list will want it since they will be able to see every step I take right here. Anyway ok ill check the vin #s and verify the year. Aaannnd yes the steering and brakes from the 70 are going on, but...
Yeah, I'm going to keep the stock cab dimensions, mainly to keep resale value up and "keep it simple (stupid)".. if I was going to keep this rig I'd do an extra cab. Really the whole reason I'm doing this is something "happened" to my 70, want I want is a 7X troopie which I've already got my...
I had to include a photo of this rusted iron sculpture, which will probably surpass most of your pre-conceived notions of what stupid mechanics are capable of, but believe me you haven't seen anything compared to what they do to motorized vehicles here in this part of the world. I'm sure someone...
Well, I've never actually documented any of my Cruiser escapades and I guess there's a first time for everything. First of all I'm doing this from the middle of Amazonian Peru so, this is not going to be a high dollar resto but want to do the best I can with what I've got to work, all things...
Mmm, well I guess you must mean "work" in the sense that they won't bolt on, cuz I'm pretty sure if they will stop an FJ70 they'll stop a FJ45, heavy cargo not withstanding? I guess I just want to know if the axle housings are the same. Ill know soon enough, next couple of days I'm stripping my...
I'm already swapping out the disks and steering, is there anything keeping me from swapping the rear drum brakes of a 90 fj70 to the rear of a 77FJ45, backing plates on out ? Thanks.
I'm in a third world country and ain't got time for no damn centering tool :hillbilly: Just kidding, I'd love one, just no possibility that one exists within 1000 miles of my location. So what's the alternative? Misadjusted knuckles? So what does one of these tools cost? Can I make one? Thank ya...
Well, ok it's 69K on the od which doesn't leave much reason for the motor to be rebuilt, unless they ran it low on oil, or it's actually 269K and the odometer hasn't worked since 81. At any rate we tried to yank it out of it's hole today with a dump truck and broke the rope ... the brakes are...
