I finally decided to sell my Overland tent after many year of ownership and exactly zero actual days on the trail. Bought it right before we had kids, then basically stored it until now. It's time for it to go to a good home where it will actually get some use!
The mounting rails have been...
Agreed. FWIW, I've seen reports of people ramping stock KDSS trucks in the mid-high 500s, while similar non-KDSS trucks were fully 100 points less in the same test on the same ramp. It's essentially like a sway bar disconnect in high articulation situations (though it doesn't actually...
As others have said, only sure way to tell if it has KDSS is to look under the truck. It is possible this a non-Sport truck with an individual option for KDSS. However, looking at the truck, it does not appear to have the Sport package. While the smoked lenses are very subtle and might not be...
Cool! I may have missed a few posts so forgive me if you already address these questions, but:
1.) does this add the Bluetooth phone capability that is missing from the 2003-04 trucks?
2.) does it include any kind of ipod integration like the VAIS Tech systems? (Had one of those on our 100...
Looks nice! Am i right in assuming it uses your phone's broadband connection to get Internet, updated maps/Google maps etc.? So if you go out and forget your phone, you lose all of these capabilities?
Damn dude! I know we joked around, but didn't think you were really going that far with it! Showed it to the fam, the kids didn't believe it was the same truck they lived the first 5/9 years of their lives in. Looks great, looking forward to seeing it on some adventures (or driving alongside)!
For sale is our 2004 UZJ100 with 106K miles. Sonora Gold Pearl with Ivory leather interior and black pearl emblems. Factory options include:
third row seat and A/C
navigation
Bluetooth
rear backup camera
side and curtain airbags
It's in excellent condition, and was my wife's daily driver...
Nice job! Crazy how flimsy are those rear coils on the AHC trucks, almost like "helper" springs than anything else (which, I guess, is really what they are)...
Yeah, old school jerry cans actually do have some advantages over sub-tanks:
modular and portable
easy to fill via siphon or other means
can be easily unloaded to reduce weight (e.g. for recoveries)
not subject to trail abuse (if properly carried and secured)
puncture or fuel...
Nope, that's what I want as well! Don't think we can go much bigger if we have the canister _and_ want it at least flush (if not above) the rails.
BTW, I have to deal with CARB and smog tests here in CA. I seem to recall there can be some issues passing a visual. Anyone hear similar? Amando?
My preference is whatever clears the damn charcoal canister! If you think about market exclusivity, there are already at least two big companies out there making tanks for non-canister trucks. But in the U.S., if you could produce a version that accommodates the canister, then you would be the...
Mercedes once were the best-engineered vehicles in the world. They had (still have I believe) an official high mileage program whereby if you can show them documented proof of 1,000,000 km in one of their vehicles (maintenance receipts, etc.), they will give you a brand new replacement...
Daaamn, that one has UNIMOG portal axles on it!
edit: Well, definitely portals. I was assuming MOGs since that's within the Mercedes-Benz family, but they actually don't look like any MOG portals I've ever seen.
463 G-Wagens do have some electronics, but the mechanicals are solid. The truck is basically unchanged since 1979, heck you can even order the sheetmetal panels from MB for a 1981 300GD (trust me).
It's in use by the military forces of more countries than any other similar vehicle. MB was...
^Hmmm, no...
On my second G. This one is a 300GD diesel, four-spd manual transmission. Spartan, but IMHO destroys the 100 off pavement. Not even in the same league, all things equal. Of course, on pavement it's the reverse.
The 80 (with factory diff-lock option) was the only LC available...
I find the truck will actually shift sideways if lowering one side at a time. Maybe I'm putting the jackstands in the wrong place (I usually put them on each frame rail end near the rear crossmember, I found that putting them up near where the rear lower control arm mounts to the frame is too...
Very cool, thanks for the info! I'm thinking about building my truck up again and this and the TJM T13 Outback are my two choices (had two ARBs previously, both a Sahara and a Deluxe, won't be going back).
On the switch, I just had one quick comment. If it were me, I'd use the existing OEM...
