I have a 1990 FJ62, 216k miles. This Land Cruiser has a custom poptop roof for overlanding. The roof has a metal frame base that was welded to the body. The top is a welded aluminum frame with a Nidacore top attached. The tent was made by The Canvas Works in Sausalito. They also made the...
The top Nidacore is fastened to the aluminum frame with screws in case i needed to remove. I hadnt finalized how I wanted to seal. or make permanent.
This project is for sale on Craigslist SF, listed today...
I had a similar problem with my FJ62 passenger rear not turning. I used Kroil on the ebrake mechanism. I put in 4wd and dragged it back and forth 10’. It eventually broke free. It works
If I remember correctly, the roof lid and rain gutters separated from the body. I cut above the rain gutter to see in. I had huge rust holes above the rear rain gutters on both sides. The roof section I removed was not long enough. I left the roof section above the front seats.
@cruiserpilot, the container didn’t go anywhere. 4plus & 4x4Labs 👍 thank you. Once I get the lift and knuckles done. I’ll order some bumpers
Interior pic
This project was placed in a shipping container back in Dec 2016. Not much has changed since the pics were posted. Now that I have some free time. I plan to finish this build. I just ordered a lift kit from Cruiser Outfitters. I'll get some pics of the interior when the lift kit arrives...
Thanks for the encouragement
It got me started.
I made some adjustments to the struts, tightening the fabric. Seamstress will make adjustments to the pattern and hopefully have the sunbrella fabric sewn. I'll take "Lambcrusher's" advice and sew in a slot for the bungee cord.
Made a little bit of progress
Sewed 1" Velcro to fabric,
1" adhesive Velcro to cap and base,
Opens and closes nice
Need to take up slack and add windows
