    I did something similar years ago. Didn’t have distributor seated so wasn’t pumping oil. Melted all my camshaft bearings. i took off my oil pan and could see the problem.

    Brake refresh

    Make sure to use caliper grease on all drum brake cylinders as you put them together and install. I forgot this and after a winter sitting a number of cylinders froze (rusted enough not to move). Buy the adjusting tool if you don’t already have one. They are worth the expense.

    You guys all rock. Great feedback. I'm going to remove the inspection cover and look. Was thinking heat shield too for a bit because the one under the battery started rattling a year or so back. This sound is further back. I can't picture any such thing further back as ToyotaMatt suggests so...

    It works perfect. I'd forgotten that I tapped the hole larger to add on a piece of black iron pipe. Hasn't leaked a drop and easy to drain down.

    Yeah, I had seen that I might need a new cluster. Kinda stinks when this is the only part that is bad. it was causing my speedometer needle to flip and flop and the. It would start making a grinding and rattling sounds as it skipped across those grooves.
