Is an oil pan from an 84 2F compatible with a 77 2F

From what I’ve found on here it appears I would need to remove a couple baffles at a minimum. Has anyone else used one? I’ve a friend who’s selling one cheap but don’t want to hack it up if it’s just going to ruin it.

    Is this cigarette lighter correct?

I just installed a dome light and it wouldn’t work. Fuse was blown. Installed a new fuse and pop goes the weasel again. Hmm. Wiring diagram led me to the lighter. If I pull the lighter out and replace the fuse my dome light works great so it must be this baby. It fits nice but it does look to be...

    Wiring 78 distributor to a 77 questions

I have a rebuilt 78 distributor & igniter by Jim C. I’m replacing my troublesome HEI that came with my 77 with a 78 because I didn’t want to mess with points or the engine side cover. It’s pretty much plug and play except for two wires. There’s a green connector from the igniter that has two...

    Sticky power valve

Pin Head has inspired another carb rebuild! All is going pretty good but when I took my carburetor apart the power valve was stuck open. I've soaked the air horn and the valve but they're still grabby. I've seen posts from people that say they have polished the bore and fixed this issue. How is...

    Pinion flange slop

I'm putting my OE thirds back in and wondering how much rotational play is acceptable. When I hold the stake nut with my fingers and turn the flange I can get about 1/16 inch of play. No wiggle side to side. The pinion shaft doesn't move but I can twist the flange back and forth a little. Is...

    373's or 411's?

My 8/77 FJ40 needs a new rear diff. PO replaced the 411's with 373's. I have replaced the 31 inch tires with 33's. So now I'm wondering if I should change back to 411's. I have the stock H42 with an Orion 4:1. Mostly I drive at speeds under 55 and easy trails. I'm wanting something I can drive...

what's the torque setting for the F/R engine mounts?

    I know. It's probably in the FAQ's but I can't find it. I give.... For a 77 2F. Thanks

    Is this torque steer?

77 fj40 that has recently been through a partial frame up. It was completely torn down but not all parts were totally gone through. Since back on the road ( about 500 miles) I've been fighting a pull to the right. It's most noticeable on deceleration. I've gotten used to turning the wheel...

High compression numbers with low vacuum

Still dialing in my engine. PO said it had been recently rebuilt by the previous owner. So who knows when or how many miles ago so figured I'd do a compression test ( my first) results: 175, 170, 160, 160, 155, 160 I think they should be down in the high 140's at the highest. So manual says...

    Front end problem

I have a 77 fj40 that pulls to the right. I have new TRE's, steering stabilizer, and have rebuilt the drag link and tie rod and front knuckles. When rebuilding the front end I discovered evidence of a front end collision in the past ( left front leaf spring was bent and there was an offset pin...

    Hissing brake pedal

Just put a lift on my 77 fj40. In the process I had to change out brake lines and while I was at it I thought I'd paint that ugly rusty master cylinder. All back together now and back from a test drive. My brake pedal is soft and continues a slow descent when pressed. The whole time it's...

    Braided stainless steel brake lines

Hi mudders, The tryptophan has worn off and I went out to install my new brake lines from SOR Specter Off-Road Land Cruiser Parts - Page 086 Land Cruiser Brake Lines & Hoses Despite a mild 2.5 inch lift and 2 inch oversize shackles ( total 3.5 inch lift) this 4 inch lift brake line kit is...

Help me pick the right shocks

I know this has been posted up a zillion times but based on all the threads I've read it's harder than it would appear. I have a 77 fj40 with 2 inch over size shackles and a 2.5 inch Hell Creek lift. Based on what I've read here the shackle lift counts as half since your only lifting half the...

    Hell creek install problem

I have a set of 2.5 inch lift springs from Hell Creek that I started to install but have run into problems. Tom from Hell Creek ( great guy) and I talked when ordering and we got our wires crossed. We talked about the width of my 4 plus shackles ( 3 inches ) and he told me they would fit but it...

    Hell Creek 2.5 install question

My OEM springs have a shim in the right rear. The dreaded cruiser lean fix. Tom at Hell Creek said it's not necessary with his lift to reuse the shim. Anyone else have experience with this?

My Orion needs a skid plate

I am looking for a skid plate to protect my new Orion. I see Iron pig has one but I'm not sure if it's going to fit either because of my exhaust. Does anyone have pictures or suggestions? Thanks in advance, SP

    Transmission install problem

I'm 1 inch from mating up the transmission with the bell housing. Been working on this last inch for an hour. I changed out the clutch and Transfer Case but I think I'm stuck on the pilot bearing. I did the emory cloth on the shaft and made sure it fit before the install. I bought some longer...

    Orion install Questions (real time)

Well it's all out laying on the shop floor. I got the TC separated from the transmission and am now trying to put it all together. Mudrak built it for me but it's Saturday and not available so I thought I would ask the members here... 1) I'm trying to tighten the Staking nut on the back of...

What's the best method for removing the Transfer Case?

I've been searching and reading and learning a lot but still unclear on how to go about this. I've seen the posts on what bolts to remove and I know about the two bolts behind the PTO cover. After all is unbolted and the output shaft nut removed, what's next. Mudrak tells me that the cross...
