I'm looking for one myself, and if I saw this rig, I'd buy it if the color was right (tan). I've had chances to buy cheaper, but like others have said, rust and maintenence are big factors, especially rust. So I'm holding out for a zero rust, well maintained 60, and am willing to fork out the...
I test drove an '86 FJ60 today, runs great, but at idle with the AC on, the tack would fluctuate between about 1000 and 1500 RPM's, as if I were pressing and releasing the accelarator pedal every second or two. It was very noticeable. If I buy this truck, am I looking at a simple fix? Is it...
I've got the CDL switch installed, with 7 pin mod, but here is a question that I have not seen addressed: I'm assuming that, as long as the road is not dry and/or hard, that I can press the CDL switch on the fly, i.e. while the vehicle is rolling. Is this correct? Last winter there were times...
I recently had to replace the front u-joints of my '97. It later occured to me: If I had been away from town and those u-joints gave out, could I have disconnected the front drive shaft and driven home with only rear power. If not, would a center diff lock allow me to do this?
Mine is the brown interior, with the "orange" stripes. I like the pin stripes better, but mine are in excellent shape, so I'll stick to what I've got so I can switch seats if I need to. Anybody know what year the pin stripe seats began?
Thanks guys.
I just wrecked/rolled my '85 FJ60. Not a good day, but fortunately I was able to walk away unscathed. It has 260,000 miles on the engine, and still going strong; what a shame. It's been declared totalled, but I'm keeping it for parts for my next one. Here's the question: What year models have...
Foreign FJ60 Trim Panel
I have an OEM clock to instal on my US 60, but the trim panel doesn't accommodate the clock like the one I had in South America. I need the trim panel from an overseas 60, which, I think, will have the internal bracket to allow for mounting the clock.
Thanks guys. We found four auto parts stores that "had them," only to find out they weren't of the right length when delivered. I ordered some from Toyota, and will pay an extra buck or two and an extra day for them. Appreciate your input.
I just got a call from my mechanic. In changing out the rotors, he bent two studs on my FJ60, and there are none to be found for a couple of days. However, I know of a guy in town who's got a couple of '70s FJ40's for parts. Question: Will the studs from an FJ40 fit my 60?

Thanks RavenTai, 'nough said. I am pleasantly surprised, though I shouldn't be, that my Cruiser already has a "swirl generator." Chalk up another one for Land Cruisers!
Thanks.
OK. The teasing is well taken. But do any of you guys have any factual knowledge on this thing. Although I agree with your environmental sarcasm, I really don't care what anybody thinks about the Tornado. I want to know if anyone has tried it.
I'm thinking of installing a TORNADO Fuel Saver on my '97. Any of you guys have any experience with one of these, whether on a Cruiser or any other vehicle?
Unjeep
In Venezuela, the GX was placed on their FJ62's. My 60 was standard fare, which meant gasoline engine, no, or very little, emissions junk (right, no manifold fan), and five speed tranny. Thanks for the input guys. I'll keep up the quest. . . .
Happy trails.
Albert
I had an '84 FJ60 while I lived in Venezuela. All the '60s assembled there had a golden "G" emblem on both front fenders, about where the US models have the vents (ours didn't have the vents). I have asked around in other venues, but noone has been able to explain to me what the "G" stands for...
I'm using a Weber 38/38, which comes with an automatic choke, a bummer. The carb works fine though. It's got all the emissions stuff removed, so no vacuum hoses to speak of, thus no leaks. Incidently, I recently added Man-A-Fre's adapter, which allows the use of the OEM linkage to the Weber...
I just learned that, since the Cruiser I bought came with headers, I don't have a heat riser. I only learned this by browsing through some Cruiser websites. I checked under the hood to make sure. My FJ60 does have a rough time getting going on cold mornings. Will this heat riser make a...
Back in July '03, I paid $21,500 for a '97 w/lockers and 55k, and I had to catch a bus to Plainview, TX (from Abilene) to get it. At the time, after looking for about a year, I felt it was time to "bite." I still look around occassionally, whether to find one for my brother or to see how I did...
