Hey All -
I've searched around and have not found this particular problem.
I have a '76 2F with what I believe is the correct dipstick (part # 15301-61010). I am consistently showing about 1/4-quart OVERFILLED with only 7 quarts.
I know the 2F does not tend to be sludgy, so I wonder if i have...
Hi All -
I would greatly appreciate anyone enlightening me as to what has been done to my '76 FJ40 igniter/coil assembly and the distributor.
I believe I have the vacuum advance dist. mod from Toyota but it looks like someone removed the igniter.
I greatly appreciate any info.
I have a 76 FJ40 with the 2f, non-usa Toyo vacuum dizzy.
I was having HELLACIOUS running problems after it was parked for the winter.
I changed the points, fuel filter(s) and re-wired the carb-area wires. My plugs were NGK BPR5EA-L's, only a year old. They were uniformly BLACK, more sooty than...
Hey all - thanks very much for any help you can offer.
I have a stock '76 2F that has been sitting for the winter with Sta-Bil in the tank. I moved from 4500 to 9000 feet last summer.
Last summer the Crooozer was still running pretty good without any carb adjustments. I've driven it a couple...
I put new blades (12" napa) on my wipers and now they don't seem to be pressing hard enough against the glass. They don't clean the glass at all.
The springs seem OK in the arms and I can't quite tell what's going on.
Any ideas about how to increase the wiper pressure against the windshield...
I just had my center arm rebuilt with a Man-a-Fre rebuild kit. I did not do it myself.
It came back from the mechanic still full of slop. Moving the steering wheel left/right showed the center arm bolt moving a good inch or two in the housing.
I adjusted it as much as possible with no success...
I just got a replacement Transpo IN554 VR and it seems they are now made in China. It definitely looks lower quality than the Transpo In554 I am replacing.
Anyone have any experience with these Chinese units?
I'm replacing all the tie rod ends on my 76, as well as rebuilding the center arm. I am a clueless monkey and was wondering if anyone has the Toyota FSM pages that show how to do this as PDF's?
Many Thanks!
I have a 76 FJ40 that I have replaced the alternator & battery &
voltage regulator. (I first tried a new rebuilt Toyota VR and then a
Transpo solid state unit - alternator is new Toyota OEM rebuild, battery is new Optima)
My headlights pulse, brighter & dimmer and my ammeter swings wildly...
Hey, everyone -
I am getting back into my '76 FJ40 which has been sitting for 3 years or so. My usual mechanic in Sedona, Desert Auto has switched owners and is no longer an FJ40 shop.
Any suggestions for some serious work? I'm thinking rebuild the engine, new exhaust, electrical work, etc...
