Attended the Gotham City Coal Mine Cruiser Classic at Paragon Adventure Park last weekend. Good gathering-great grub saturday night-fun raffle-Thanks! Ran blue and black trails luvin' the non-usa 4 spd with the Orion. No glitches-Orion scores an A+. Dale in PA.
Anyone making a quick cover for fj40's? I seem to recall that subject but what ever came of it? I leave my truck on the trailer each evening and the tarp deal pretty much bites. I don't think I've ever rigged it the same twice, and its usually malfunctioned by morning. Dale in PA
Due to the postings here, I've had no problems! Was getting ready to plug mine in when the "jump outta low" surfaced. Ran the detent ball down to bottom and backed it off just enough turns to allow shifting again. Coupler collar was in nice shape too. The leaking o-rings posts showed up by...
My 55 used what could only be described as a "short shaft" water pump. Yours may have been replaced with one of them??? But your water pump pulley and cranshaft pulley were in alignment...so that doesn't make sense. So much for Wild guess #984
I have no idea what comprises a "good" repair kit. Looks like Marlin has one. In my little group we have Boggers to Goodyear MTR's. One of us (me) should have a repair kit! Thanks!
Tip of the hat to Pin Head. I recently changed over to an ARB from a lock rite. A lot of your explantions to others gave me the confidence to do it myself. The factory book along with Pin Heads pointers is a hard to beat combination! Thank You. Dale in PA
Try a call to Turbo City-their system is on my 2F-modified from a jeep kit of course. Victor at Turbo City was not bashful about tweaking their kit to fit a cruiser. V6 Pontiac distributor with the shaft of a cruiser so the dist can be controlled by the system and still have the proper...
tpi4x4 from Tenn. will tailor his kits for you. Arb locker (on sale at tpi next week) longfields for birfields. Aisin hubs. Later version knuckles (79-85 toyota truck) or from fj60's are a bit of an upgrade for a 78 too.
For a stock 2F/4 speed setup I've always used a thin film of anti-seize in the seat before pressing the pilot bearing in. Just figured if I needed it replaced, it would be a bit easier to remove.
Front door speakers in my 94 were shot-no stereo shops around here could come up with anything that would work-ordered a set from the Toyota dealer and had them in 2 days. Toyota will also ship your factory system to a repair center, give you an estimate before they repair and get it back to...
Just looking at your 465 write-up its obvious that you are pretty meticulous, but I'll ask anyhow. Did you wash down the inside before assembly? Mine was pretty filthy with "machine shop dust".
spring scale and inch pounds
With AA making a big boo boo in their first issue instructions (ft. lbs instead of inch lbs.) I was a bit spooked on the pre load. Since I didn't have an inch pound torque wrench, and couldn't come up with one in timely fashion, I followed the Toyota service...
crossmember mods
Mine was cut leaving a couple inch stub sticking out of each side of the frame with a piece of plate welded on. 6inches of plate to the rear. Crossmember has same size rectangular plate welded on each end but the 6inches to the front. Whole thing is moved to the rear 5 or 6...
