Hi FloridaFJ80,
Thanks for your response.
I have sent you both a private message and an email yesterday, have you had the chance to take a look and respond?
Let me know..

FloridaFJ80,
I hope you found this article helpful, this is my article, my pictures and workaround taken from: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/90series/files/jimgasper2003/
Did this on my last Prado which helped greatly.
Anyway, it is flattering to see others publish and benefit from it...
Hi all,
I'm a Toyota 4x4 loyalist, have had 4Runners, LC 90, 100, 200, Rav4 in the past...
Currently considering a 1996 all stock Prado with 200000 km on the ODO, would be the oldest I have owned therefore I'm unsure it is a good buy and would like your opinions please;
The body is fine but will...
IMO, flairless do the LC better justice, more aggressive looking, no non sense, straight to the capability point, unless absolutely necessary like in the case of the Arctic Trucks..
MD.
I thought some might be interested to know this, not sure for how long but I hope it doesn't effect the Kruzer Tribe :)
BBC News - Toyota shuts North American plants
After all, it isn't impossible to find a reasonably priced used LC in Canada, it may take some patience, by then the new model may be out I guess :)
pagemaster mentioned this one earlier, I did a simple comparison (attached) with online prices in the US, not bad.

By experience the blinking 4LO isn't necessarily a sign of bigger problems, this group of lights seem to blink/stay on during all types of warnings.
Like OsoCruiser mentioned, they might very well go off on their own.
Good luck and please keep us posted.

Thanks pagemaster,
I guess the rust is from the salt being used to de-ice, can be removed and treated, correct?
The rear upright seat noise is normal in 100 & 200 LCs from my experience.
The price -even before negotiation- seems unusually reasonable compared to what it would sell for in the USA...
Pagemaster,
Great, I have been looking into purchasing an LC in the same general area and I hope you can give me an idea;
Did you by any chance inquire about the asking price what was it and do you think it is negotiable please?
Were these rusting spots very deep or just usual slight and...
In my opinion and by experience, Toyota's current diesel engines are fine -80s & 90s- 2.4 and 3 L were somewhat troublesome where I live and this could have been due to low quality fuel.
I have tried an LC 80 diesel and the performance compared to gas was amazing, plenty power.
If you go diesel...
Mine lasted around 1.5 - 2 years roughly but again this would depend on use I guess.
After changing it for the first time I started keeping 5 fresh batteries with long life in the vehicle.
JBHorne, Regarding draining of the batteries, you mean the K2, the one that was left in for about a week, correct?
Anyway, I'm relived to know it isn't a more serious fault without explanation..
================
planetealaska, I hope JBHorne has answered your questions and concerns, what do...
JBHorne and planetalaska;
Puzzling, yes I use only the original keys that came with the LC, mine doesn't have the red button though, it is a JDM thing.
No I don't normally keep both keys with me/in LC all the time, this was just a mishap, the way it happened; one key (K2) was mistakenly...
JBHorne,
I understand but immobilizer keys seemed to be working (LED) and both couldn't become damaged/faulty at the same time as both do open and start the vehicle now, I know I can be unlucky but not that unlucky:)
JBHorne,
As indicated earlier, I unplugged and re-plugged the battery poles for at least an hour, didn't work, not immediately but the day after.
Are you referring to the mechanical key being able to start the engine, how?
Can the vehicle reset itself, over lets say 10 hours?
Thanks,
MD
Gentlemen,
I'm happy to report that the LC has decided to start the morning after for no apparent reason, now, I'm even more anxious to understand what went wrong and how did it fix itself?
Thanks,
MD.
