IH8MUD Community,
Recently I have started searching for an FJ60. I am in need of a second vehicle and am about to start a complete rebuild of my FJ40. Have always wanted a 60 as well and now have the need.
minimal body rust and a drivetrain in good condition. Unfortunately my 40 has...
I didn't know about cruisercorp. I'll drop them a line next week. My rig right now is in OKC so that could work.
My understanding is that CCOT no longer rebuilds customer rigs. I sent them a note an hour ago. They would be might starting point if they were able to take it on.
Forum,
Recently I had to ship my '78 FJ40 from California to Oklahoma. I live in an apartment in San Francisco and had no where to work on the beast and is was falling into disrepair. Its time to do a full down-to-frame rebuild and am looking for the best shop in texas or oklahoma. Are there...
I will check on the transfer case. I have always had an issue with a lubricant leak between the transmission and the transfer case. I may have lost some oil in the last couple months.
Thanks for the help
Not an issue with controlling speed. At 55 mph it feels and sounds as though I am in 3rd gear. Very loud, burning through gas, high temps due the to the high RPM. When at idle if I apply full throttle she sounds fine.
An interesting thought on the linkage. I will take another look to see...
I almost have my '78 running smoothly. Recently installed a re-built carb. Adjusted the idle to get right at 650 rpm. Have yet to adjust the fast idle, so the choke works but will die if I pull it all the way out.
My problem is that it runs at super high RPMs at highway speeds >40 mph in...
Sounds about right. I was pretty careful to achieve the 9MM/1MM clearance with the float but I obviously didn't get it right since there is no fuel visible in the sight glass.
Ih8mud members,
I am having a lot of trouble recently with my 40. As a back story, a few months ago I was having trouble with my fuel filter constantly getting clogged from some sediment or rust in my gas tank. I replaced the filter and flushed the gas tank, but I was having issues with...
Ok, the "cup" labeled 19 I can get from SOR. For some reason I don't believe I have one, but I will verify this next weekend when I get the thing properly disassembled. But the second spacer outlined in red i do not see on any diagrams from Cool cruisers or MAF.
IH8mud community,
I few years ago I had a crappy repair shop repair my center arm since I could not for the life of me get it disassembled.
I was looking at it again and decided that I needed to disassemble it again - double check that it was repaired correctly (there is just something not...
My cheap home depot hose clamps have cut into my radiator hose and now it has started leaking (had to over-tighten to stop leaking in the first place).
Will replace the hoses and clamps, but I am wondering if anyone can make suggestions for the very best replacements.
Might get the hoses...
Custom-made steel rock sliders came with my '78 FJ40 when I purchased it several years ago. They are made of heavy gauge steel, bolt-on to the frame, and powder-coated.
Came from a fabricator in Minnesota and are still in the original packaging.
I desperately need these out of my...
