Clutch replacement 350 4 speed with Downey Bell housing

I just finished doing what you are doing now. Wish I had checked or heard of Downey's chevota clutch. I ordered and installed the LUK. I was wondering how to deal with the little bit of drag when the clutch is pushed in, but now I know why its there at least. I'll have to see if there is a...

    Struggling to get transmission installed

I’m about to do the same job. I had to pull the rear bearing housing off the t-case to get enough room to take the tcase and transmission out. Even then it was tight. Tilting the engine sounds like a good idea as well. Please post what you try and how it worked.

Transfer case input shaft seal orientation

Which way does the spring go for the input shaft seal on my one piece transfer case? I was taught that the spring should face the fluid and the seal is usually driven from the non spring side against the lip of the seal opening. That would mean the seal should be installed with the spring facing...

looking for a indicator stalk and maybe some other bits

No problem. If you still have the original one, my experience is that they are highly rebuildable and usually just need the contacts, cleaned or recoated and the springs tweaked

looking for a indicator stalk and maybe some other bits

I may have one. The problem is I don't know if it is pre or post 77. Is the difference just the pigtail or is it more fundamental than that? The detents work but the plastic end bit of the stalk is broken off. You might be able to rebuild it with some plastic weld. It is otherwise intact. I...

    Park Brake Issues

I just finished the park brake on my '80. I can't see the picture but in response to Byron, the top springs on my brake alternated one top and one bottom. The curve on the springs makes it so the springs can only go one way. I did the speedi sleeve when I replaced the seal. Very easy installation.

    Warn hub U ring gasket

That's good to know. I rebuild my hubs and was wondering about that gasket. I had other problems with the detention being worn out and had to add some shims fashioned from beer cans to take up the slack.

Help ID'ing old Downey Knuckle Kit

I have been restoring my cruiser and different vintages now for so long, I sometimes lose track of what I bought for which truck. I have a Downey knuckle rebuild kit with the number 14006-76 on the box. The challenge is I don't know which years the kit is good for. I suspect it is for my '78...

    Turkey and Wheeling. October 10 - 11

Just checking departure times. I haven't wheeled in that area before. I am planning on being in Sundre between 9:30-10. Is the trunk road well labeled or do I need to know the RR or TWP # to get there and get to the rendezvous point? Thanks.
