Do I need those rubber cone shaped things in rear springs?

I've had airbags running in my rear springs so the rubber cone (dampeners?) which fit inside rear springs had been removed. However, the airbags have deteriorated and worn out so I have decided to not replace them but upgrade to a more heavy duty spring. Does anyone know if I MUST have those...

Standard Toyota Clutch vs Aftermarket Heavy Duty?

Just reporting back. I went with the OEM std Toyota Clutch. I must say I'm very happy with it. Suprisingly it's very quiet, no bearing noise or sound difference when foot is on/off pedal and there is no clutch shudder on take off. It pulls up fantastically!!!

Standard Toyota Clutch vs Aftermarket Heavy Duty?

My Clutch is slipping in 4th and 5th gears under load and I need a new one. I'm only offroading occassionally up the beach etc(once a month), and I tow an offroad camper a bit over summer. I had the job priced. An original std Toyota Clutch is nearly half the part price of an aftermarket Heavy...

Key wont go into the ignition?!

YES I have the right key! In fact I have two right keys.!! My wife drove home after dropping off the kids at school this morning and switched off the cruiser and took the keys out. Upon trying to start it again a few hours later she couldn't get the key to go in. It goes about half way in but...

    Coolant Leaking from ACSD?

hey hdjeighty thanks for the very detailed pics! Sometimes seeing is understanding. So it seems that if coolant is coming out the front of the unit the o-ring is failing as it appears that is the only place it can come from, unless of course its somehow penetrating the wax pellet itself...

    Coolant Leaking from ACSD?

I walked outside to find a small pool of radiator coolant under my vehicle yesterday (much to my disgust as I've just replaced the radiator due to a leak in the core last month and triple checked all my hose connections). It appears that green coolant is possibly leaking from the ACSD (Assist...

    Installing exhaust temp gauge sensor

I'm going to be installing my exhuast temp gauge on my 80 series cruiser next week. I'm planning on going pre-turbo into the manifold. Can I get away with drilling the hole in the manifold whilst leaving it on the car and using a small magnet to pick up the metal shavings or is that going to be...

slow front and rear diff lock maintenance?

Sometimes my front and rear diff locks are slow to engage. I have researched all the threads and know all the stuff about being under 5MPH, turning in circles on loose ground, and giving them a good work out off/on to loosen them up....all of which I've done. I know the mtors are activating as I...

    1HDT w. 3" exhaust - incredible results

so Martin, from what I can see in the pix there's just one muffler in the whole system right? Everything else is pipe? Or is there something else right on the end where it exits the back of the vehicle? Also any reason why there are two close welds in the straight pipe section under the front...

    1HDT w. 3" exhaust - incredible results

Martin, Could you shed some light on what size exhaust system you had in the truck prior to the 3" upgrade and the overall condition of your prior exhaust system. Mine has a 2 & 3/4" pipe from the turbo reducing at the flexijoint into a 2 & 1/2" pipe and mufflers under the floor. I believe this...

Pop ups, dirt roads, and dust...

yeah I have a furnace in mine, plus i have a fridge and a hot water heater as well. The vents at the back of the fridge and hot water heater on the outside of the camper let dust into the swithing area behind the vents but these are selaed off from the inside of the camper so no dust can get...

Pop ups, dirt roads, and dust...

I own a 2006 Starcraft RT10 pop top (fairly similar). It's been on some real dusty roads. It never gets any dust inside the camper, but obviously alot on the outside and underneath which is kicked up by the cruiser. It washes off easily though. I think the only places dust could get inside these...
