    1969 intro thread

Like your list of upgrades — are you doing the rear with discs? What suspension are you considering?

    1973 stock carb

Same here — that’s why I sometimes read the Sniper fuel injection threads. But, the cost is too much for me when I can just try and be patient starting the truck 😀

    SOR Brake Lines

@Pighead — thanks for advice re SOR. Will do the bending and flaring myself. Will search for folks here who have done it themselves to get insights on tips and tricks!

    SOR Brake Lines

Looking at the SOR brake line kit and was wondering what people’s thoughts were. Will have to figure which one would work best for me as I have a 67 FJ40 that I converted to disc brakes. https://www.sor.com/cat/086#tab1 I have bent and flared lines in the past, so that’s also a consideration.

Quarter panel real sill short term bandaid

Two thoughts, (1) leave alone and enjoy, (2) try saving what you have until you ready for doing it correctly - rust treatment and temp fix. Not a fan of diamond plating. As Sky King, replaced quarter panels and rear sill & painted — after all mechanicals were done — only took 7 plus years...

Buddy is looking at an FJ40

I would strongly consider 65swb45 listing — looks like a much better starting point & it will save you from that diamond plating!

    73 FJ40 Won’t Start

You will need to break the starting requirements down into each component as mentioned earlier. Otherwise, you will start throwing money at a problem that doesn’t exist. If the truck turns over, engine cranks, I like to start with spark. Google checking for spark — it’s easy. Others have...

    MAGA Extremism

UGH — this thread is leading me down the path of spending more money on the FJ40.

    Pin Striping - FJ40

Unfortunately too far away - NYC area. Going to be looking at pin striping solution I can apply - decal of some type. Adding this to my winter project list, which also includes updating the cabin of the FJ40 - floor mats, and dashboard painting & trying to go back to original (1967) gauge layout.

    Pin Striping - FJ40

Really think my FJ40 could benefit from some pin striping and like what @Fast Eddy did on his FJ40. Was wondering if anyone has done this recently and who are you using to do the work? Any "best" types of striping to apply? What art work do I supply or is it a conversation with the...

Front Axle Leak - Both Sides

I have completed rebuilding the knuckles and now I am reattaching the tie rods. However, when I reattach the tie rods the steering wheel it isn't oriented correctly - off by half a turn. I wasn't expecting this as I had a recent alignment and the steering wheel orientation was correct. Any...

    1971 FJ40 rear hatch struts

@firemanj92 — I wish we could get the gate to open higher with your mod - noted you mentioned the height limit in your other post. The rear hatch is just dangerous when open!
