I use the ScanGauge II in my 04 Tundra 4.7
Pros: plugs right into your OBD port for real time info...MPH (you can calibrate it to wheel size and gearing), MPG, TEMP, VOLTS, and more...also tells any code that are thrown if the check engine light comes on. You can also clear the code with it...
Tundra....despite Brake's experience, I love my DC. I like that it's NOT too big but has more towing, more head and leg room, and a larger bed for hauling. I'm also getting 14mpg. Also, as you can see below, they are very easily built to go anywhere...
to answer your original question, the 4.7 is a very stout motor and trans combo. At 100k you have many more years of service. My 4.7 has 90k without a single hickup. Make sure you do a once over on the entire vehicle, and if the price is right, go for it.
Nice truck BTW.....
As for your lift and tire rubbing...the pinch weld hammering usually works for what your trying to accomplish. 1 1/2 - 2" is the MAX you want to go without modifying the CV boots and replacing the upper control arms with a uni-ball style arm (Camburg or Total Chaos)...
also, if you go into almost any auto parts store, they should have the whole kit ready to go with everything. There is a company out there call "Rally" that makes a good kit and they sell it at most Pep Boys, NAPA, Auto Zone, Kragen, Walmart, etc. Ive used them several time on my own vehicles...
Toytec is a great choice for the Taco...I would also look into a replacement upper contol arm as well. On the street you will be fine, but if you will be doing mild to moderate off roading as well, your upper ball joint will take undo stress and binding, as well as limiting travel. The...
I would not run two spacers. I ran the spacer that goes on top of the spring and it did incease the pre-load. slightly. It was the 3" spacer lift, but I only got about 2.5" of actual lift and it was perfect. The ride was great and the truck sat level, maybe a tad nose high (but I seemed to be...
well, that's the first problem...NO, and I repeat NO Toyota warranty is "bumper to bumper". If you go back to your factory warranty book that came with the truck it states that its a "basic limited warranty" and only covers those parts that are deamed defective either in materials or...
I dont think OME has a lift for a Tundra....knowing what kind of lifts they do, it would be like the Bilstein lift for the Tundras. I have the ICON c/o with them adjusted to about 2 3/4 lift. They clear 285/75/16 (33's) with no problem. What kind of wheeling will you be doing, and is the Tundra...
Rule of thumb with all vehicles at 100k w/an unkown history is to replace all the fluids. Gear oil, engine oil, tranny fluid, brake fluid, rad fluid, power steering fluid, etc. Replace the plugs (and check them for wear), fuel filter, and air filter. Like was said, see if the timing belt was...
Like it says, I have 6 BFG AT 285/75/16s
2 are 95%+ (they have never been on the road, and the guy I bought them off had them as dual spares, so they be closer to 100%)
2 are at 50-60% (they are coming off the rear)
right rear:
left rear:
1 is about 50% (coming off the R...
