I could definitely recoup some of the cost by selling the trans (reman that was put in only weeks before), custom exhaust, wheels/tires, etc. I assume I would want to keep the accelerator complete as well? Are the LS1 motor mounts different than the old AA SBC mounts? Thanks for the replies so far.
I've got a '78 40 that was converted to a chevy small block with an AA kit. That engine (400 SBC) blew years ago, so I pulled it and the cruiser has been in storage ever since (about 15 years). Been thinking about getting it back on the road and I have an opportunity to buy a complete wrecked...

This cage came on a cruiser that I bought for parts. It's a 1 3/4" dom skeleton with 1" seat mounts & grab handles. It has 2 Corbeau racing seats (baja ss's I think). I've never had it in my rig, looking to go to a family style cage down the road. It's never been rolled to my knowledge...
TBI would be my vote. I've had luck buying donor vehicles like 1/2 ton pickups or suburbans for less than a grand, yank all the goodies and part out or junk the rest. My local and state gov't use an auction style website to get rid of retired gov't vehicles, that's always been a great source...
Not affiliated, but I saw this local (Cookeville, TN) 80 yesterday and thought I'd share. Has 186k with lockers, green w/tan leather & sunroof for $8700. The # listed is 931.261.5889. Again, no affiliation, don't know the seller.
Rust is minimal, some along the bottom edge. Overall seems to be in pretty good shape. I can't tell that there's any twist to it. Here's a pic of the inside/bottom. The red you see is where an old seal is peeling off that got painted over. Along the seam is where the rust is.
Regarding the windshield-I sold the driver's side arm to a buddy. The rest is there and looks to be in good shape but I have no idea if it works. I can pull the busted glass. The hinges were cut off so they're no good. I'll take 40 bucks plus shipping. I can get a weight estimate tonight -...
Here's a shot of the inside of the 1/2 doors. I'm guessing they are the kayline frames re-skinned with steel. Like I said earlier, they're kind of bootie-fab but functional. I'll take 50 bucks + shipping from 38501. Also replied to the pm's.
I recently bought a '76 40 that a guy gutted to build a tube buggy. I got the roll cage, seats & poly tank, but don't need the rest. I've got:
'76 tub from firewall back in so-so condition. The fenderwells have been cut, the inside is rhino-lined and there are a few dents & a bit of rust...
