Hello. I have a 1963 Dodge M37 that I wish to sell with 16812 miles. It has a very straight body without any rust through anywhere. The engine (230 cid) runs very smooth with good power and no smoke and does not use oil. The transmission (6.68 first gear), transfer (1.96) and 4 wheel drive...
In reading your last post about pedal to the metal driving just before this started, I think that this may be something to check if all the things are checking out ok....not saying that is the fix, but a prime suspect. First after the engine has been running for a couple of minites, shut it off...
quick things to check or replace: coil wire.....then look in the dist to see if anything is grounding out as the plate that the points mounts on moves for advance/retard.....make sure that the engine to body ground is good and clean....
ok, please allow me be a smart a$$ here. my reason for being one: auto parts store owner for 28 years (retired) (sold only to the professional shops for 20 years), sold fel pro, victor, mccord,Detroit, bec, itm gaskets to mention a few. just purchased a 72 fj40 with the stock f engine with...

I am new to owning a fj40 and to the characteristics of the engine just yet. The fact that my f engine does not need rebuilding at this time has not made me do the research. That being said, I am not new to building engines as I owned a auto parts store for 28 years (retired now). When I hear...
that is the early model.....ask for one for a 1970 and it should be match your existing wiring....example part number would be Niehoff WA735 from Advance
the basic theory is this: after the engine reaches operating temp, you want the intake air to be as cool as possible (outside of engine compartment) and any boost in flow is a help (as a scoop)....as long as the engine does not run lean at any point there should not be any damage done
does anyone know the typical (average) engine specs on the following for the (f 1972 up) and 2f engines:
head cc's,
crushed head gasket thickness,
block to piston depth and/or block to piston cc's,
stock cam specs as to opening, closing, and lift at cam or valve,
rocker arm ratio.............TIV...
with out seeing a pic of the old voltage reg...this is some what a guess but.....with what you are describing a direct bolt on reg would be a earlier one from a 1970....what is the brand name and part number of the one one recieved from advance.....i would need to know this in order to advise on...
