The code is cleared prior to adding the relay. Once readiness is achieved, you install the resistor so the ECU believes the EGR is working normally - no codes to cause concern at inspection. The mod worked great on my 97 and I passed emissions in Davidson county, TN.
I actually just found a used 1FZ locally for $1500. The mileage is unknown, but the guy sent me a video of it running in the truck. Provided the compression is decent, I’ll probably go ahead pick it up and have the top end rebuilt to at least get the Cruiser back on the road.
My brother manages a fleet maintenance shop and they’ve had quite few Jasper engines come through with valves out of spec, loose bolts, etc. His mechanics have told him that they won’t use them anymore and they've cut ties. Not sure what they’re using now.
Is there a good supplier for reman’d engines? CruiserParts has questionable quality/service, Jasper (from what I hear) is in the same boat, and the slew of pop up suppliers seems to be worse, at least their sales departments haven’t inspired confidence during my correspondence. Everything on...
Agreed, two tone looks awesome. Though I'm still holding out on something more akin to the ICON seats with Chilewich inserts. Brown leather or vinyl on the headrest, back and sides and Sandbar colored Reed Chilewich on the insert. Would make a killing selling two tone covers with class and...
I’m buying the 0-3” shocks from Metal Tech. I may be in the same boat though. Icon doesn’t sell them on their website, so they may all be custom orders now. I figure, I’ve gone three years on my current shocks, another couple of months won’t kill me.
I actually just found the Icon 2.0 shocks online for about $600. I think I'll grab those as they're rebuildable and designed for the 80. Thanks for the replies and advice.
Bringing this one back to life. Need a stopgap to save up for the Icon Stage 2. I'm on the East coast, no real rock crawling, mainly highway and playing around on the farm.
Tried the harness modification last night. I had to use an 82 Ohm resistor on the Red/Yellow wire (that's all I had) instead of the 100 Ohm - it clicks a lot with throttle changes, but as it's temporary, I'm not too worried about it. The "rigging" worked like a charm. Drove about two miles...
